I'll give you that Martin was constrained a bit by the flex offense last year, but it was by far Wooly's best offensive system. Martin really only played the 4 on defense, offensively he ended up anywhere on the court, and most of his points came from the perimeter, the foul line, or offensive boards. Its not like he was posting up very often. If anything Hoskins was the player "forced" to play inside offensively, he was posting up defenders (successfully) much more than CM.
He showed one game where he exploited a post defender in the open floor (Gray from OU), but after that I think teams really took that option away. Also, our lack of a consistent 3 point threat other than Martin allowed teams to leave defenders in position to take away penetration, even when he had favorable match-ups.
Really, I'm anxious to see how Cartier handles some more freedom that he'll get from Huggin's offensive sets. Huggins himself has said that Cartier will still play the 4 (based on what he said, CM is slated to start there now), but Huggins will be working him into situations to work on his perimeter skills for his future and for this teams. It will be interesting to watch IMO.
