O.k. I was at the Colorado game and sat in the North endzone (nice and roomy BTW).  Anyway there was 1 dork in the 2nd row in the north endzone that kept trowing up the Lynch Mob sign I mean all game non stop.  I assume he is 18 or younger but don't really know.  He would turn around and show it the the camera guy behind us and it was pissing me off.

I wanted to walk down and smack him in the face and say stop embarassing yourself and our school, the Lynch Mob died in 2003.  Anyway just wanted to rant a little about some of our fans LFIQ.

While I think our Defense is getting a little better they are still far from Lynch Mob standards, if I'm wrong please let me know with supporting statistics.  TIA

Question: Does the Lynch Mob (sign, nicname, etc) come back if the defense ever becomes consistently good again, or should it die forever?

Lynch Mob sign should not come back this year at all.  EVEN IF WE WIN OUT!

I would say 2 years of successful Lynch Mob-like Defense would be a good time to SLOWLY start bringing it back.

We don't deserve it at this point in time.

I think it can come back but we have to be really good.  We should be getting an average of 4 sacks per game and only giving up 250 or less yards per game.  I have other criteria too but don't feel like going into it now.  The defense of the mid to late 90's was what I came to see at the games offense was nice but I loved seeing sacks, tackles for loss, complete shutdown of offenses it was a thing of beauty.

You guys are assuming the Lynch Mob sign came in response to the Lynch Mob.  Have you ever thought that the Lynch Mob was a result of fans EMAWing their asses off and flashing the Lynch Mob sign?  Maybe it has been absent for so long because fans haven't been upholding their end of the bargain? :dunno:

Agree, I'm a student and I see the mob sign fly all the time and I feel the same way.
I'd say we need to finish as a top 10 defense for two years in a row in order to say that the mob is back.

    The "other" KSU
As long as this defense is giving up 700+ yds (see Tech this yr) I see no use for the term. When teams are peeing down their legs, and Heisman trophy winners are rushing for less than 40 yds (Ricky Williams) or throwing 18-36 (Carson Palmer) this defense has no business even thinking about the name Lynch Mob. When there are undersized, overachieving LBs (Josh Buhl) who lead the team in tackles (100+) in a season and fly all over the field and there are sub groups (TNT Three Nasty Texans) included, then we can start talking about the Lynch Mob being back. If we had defenses of the DoD this season, we would be undefeated, ranked and we would be favored over OU... even with our present offense.

I may have to start some SD nut stomping if this gets too out of hand.

Sorry SD I have tons of respect for you and your opinion but LynchMob defence came first and then the sign and cheering.  So until I see a lYnch MOb defense on the field the name and the sign should GTFOOMF and GTFOOBSFS.

Yeah &@#% you guys.  I kept my hands in my pockets last year, but colorado had less than 200 yards of offense before their last drive in the fourth quarter.

If I see Jeff Fitz run down some qb all the way across the field, I'm going to let him know he did a great job by throwing up one of these:  _l m l_

Let me ask you this shouldn't we put a goal for the defense to earn the Lynch Mob title?  If  we give it to them now they will think they have done enough and rest on their lorals.  And this EMAW will not be a part of that.  Each defense each year must earn the Lynch Mob ensignia and wear it like a badge of honor.  I cannot let this defense sit back thinking they are where they need to be, I may start to change my mind some time in the next 2 weeks if we can get to the QB at OU and against ku and hold both to less than 24 points.  But I doubt it.

I emplore you my fellow EMAWS do not say good enough I say require more.  Make them earn the right to be called the Lynch Mob.

This is my point that CU team against a true Lynch Mob D would not have seen triple digets in yardage.  Hawkens would have been crying when he was told to go in and maybe no defenatly soiled himself.

hey guys,

before we start calling them the lynch mob again, i'm going to need blood and urine samples from each player along with five years of consecutive mob performances and a one thousand page essay paper from each player on why we as fans should entitle them to mob status again.

sincerely,
jthutch

To me, the Lynch Mob was not about stats.  What personafied the LM, IMO, was their absolute physical domination of the opposing team's offense.  Nyle Wiren pile driving the ISU QB.  D-backs absolutely laying the wood on receivers (see BYU and Texas Tech among others).  Jason White being pummeled to innefectiveness in 03.  Cornerbacks such as Newman and Canty absolutely shutting down their side of the field and taking the opponent's best receiver out of the game.  There was just a nasty persona about the Lynch Mob.  Playing with attitude and a "we're not giving you one single inch" mentality is what made the Lynch Mob what it was.  I think SD hit on a little of it as well concerning the fans.  We made it very difficult for opposing offenses during the LM era.  It was always loud when our d was on the field and third downs were deafening.  It didn't matter who we were playing or what the score was.  Hell, we even made it tough for offenses to operate on certain ends of the field in their own house.  To me, the LM will be back when we see the attitude and physicality return, not when we see certain stat levels obtained.  That being said, I think when LM mentality returns, so will the stats.  As far as flashing the sign, I don't like seeing it yet either but the fans can still be loud and do our part.  The players will respond and eventually earn LM status.  These are just my feelings on the Lynch Mob and flashing the sign.  For real perspective, why don't we see if you can get TP to weigh in?

Great post and I agree it's not like I don't cheer for this team in fact I'm made more noise than the ignorant F that was flashing the LM sign.  I like all your points in this post thank you I have nothing else to add to this thread but  I do see it as a slap in the face of LM members of past teams that earned the title.

TP your thoughts?

friggin awesome play.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Where I work we throw the Lynch Mob sign out all the time.  You make a sale, &@#%ing throw the Lynch Mob sign.  Get a new macro to work and hide those pesky zero dollar rows on your excel report, Lynch Mob sign.  What's that you say, this Friday is "Jeans Day?" LYNCH MOB SIGN!

Yep, I have several photos of Pete throwing the lynch mob.  He's the quickest gun in the west with that thing.
