Here Comes Frank!  :ohno:

:impatient:

Frank began media day by picking up the podium and hurling it at Kellis Robinette knocking him unconscious.  He also inadvertantly struck c_manbeck and knocked him out too.

Maybe Meek will report something about this.   :poke:

When the season ended, we went out to San Diego State and didn't play well the second half and got beat. Well, they didn't go home and cry to mom, and they didn't come in and feel sorry for themselves. They went right back in that gym, and they've both made themselves stronger because of the commitment they've made in the weight room. They've made themselves better athletes.

Quote from: Frank Martin on Curtis Kelly
We were just in the back, Jacob Pullen and Merriewether and myself, we're laughing because when we go into strength camp the coach takes pictures of ourselves with boxers on. Every year he takes another picture.  When I saw his picture about a week ago, I  literally had a tough time eating later on in the day.

But now he's transformed his body. He looks like a high major athlete again, and he's playing that way. He's been tremendous. He gives us a presence at the rim, both on offense and defense, and he's been great.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I like how he almost said that Colon works hard but he's terrible and then had to catch himself.

Not one mention of Dominique Sutton. A good or bad thing?

i'd classify it as a "so what?" thing, Sutton hasn't been happy here, not a shocker.

this team will play good defense with/without Dom.  notice Frank also mentioned moving Jamar into the 3, Dom's spot.

Pullen is completely different this year. He's a very good quote, can definitely tell he's a leader:

Here's something from him on K-State taking the next step: "When we’re doing certain things and you look to your left and someone doesn’t have energy and he doesn’t look like he really wants to be there, just remind him why he’s here, just remind him we played in the NIT last year. That’s not something as a person that’s been to the NCAA and enjoys the success of the NCAA, it’s not something that you do and you feel like, 'oh man, I really did something great, I went to the NIT.'

"You wanna go back to the NCAA. There’s nothing wrong with the NIT, but after being in the NCAAs, it’s like having a fine wine, you don’t want to go drink a cheap wine after that, you want a fine wine, it’s something that you want to do.

"You don’t get used to going back to the NIT. I don’t walk in the locker room after practice and say 'let’s work hard guys, NIT’s on the way,' just something you don’t do.

"As a team, we have five new faces, they don’t really understand what they’re working for because they haven’t had a taste of anything so you get to the point that you gotta keep explaining and keep letting them know that the NCAA Tournament is the standard and nothing under that, everything else is failure basically."

Colorado coach Jeff Bzdelik: "We aren't a good rebounding team. If we don't get better at that, there's not going to be much of a change in the wins and losses."

On a side note, entered the arena with Bzdelik. He got asked for credentials. His reaction, 'I'm a coach.' Usher replies: "Oh really, where?" I laughed.

Gold!

PFFTTT!

that's so ridiculously hilarious.    <---that doesn't do my reaction justice.

Manbeck is a treasure.

I really enjoy reading quotes about how much bigger/stronger/leaner guys are than they were last year.  I'm really glad our staff focuses on this so much.  It seems like most others don't.  Not sure.

    Hey, basketball!!!
On a side note, saw Dexter Pittman at the media hotel last night as I was getting off the elevator. He is in the best shape of his career, looks a lot different. Weighed in a 281 pounds the other day, and Barnes said he's lost more than 100 pounds now since coming to Texas.

Damn shame. Kid is going to be a total beast this season. Love following his tweets though.

Not one mention of Dominique Sutton. A good or bad thing?

a good thing. We finally have too much team depth to cover in just one short media day interview.
"You guys want answers that are conversations between John and I. I ain't worried about it. I'm living the dream.... When I start worrying about a contract, I'd be cheating the kids and not doing my job." - Frank Martin

Darren Kent, bless his soul, worked his
tail off and gave us a chance to win.

“Nobody plays harder than Kansas State.  Bilas said that to me in person,” Martin said. Now, does that mean that I’m happy every day?  No, because it’s our job to continue to get those guys to continue to grow.”
