Self went first:

Self on Aldrich: "He can be the best true big man Kansas has had since Wilt."

Difficulty of the league: "The league is the best it's been since I've been in it and probably the best since the inception of it."

Also added that the 2008 national championship helped give credit to the Big 12 from a national standpoint, along with Beasley, Durant and Blake Griffin.

Capel just said guard Willie Warren is the best off-guard in college basketball and that Aldrich is the best center in the game.

Scott Drew went earlier. Gotta love that guy's energy. Sorry sys.

Colorado coach Jeff Bzdelik: "We aren't a good rebounding team. If we don't get better at that, there's not going to be much of a change in the wins and losses."

On a side note, entered the arena with Bzdelik. He got asked for credentials. His reaction, 'I'm a coach.' Usher replies: "Oh really, where?" I laughed.

Usher comment is great.

And Bz is right.  Throw NU and ISU in with that group also, 3 of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the country.  Texas Tech and OSU were also toward the bottom, I suppose the difference is OSU had enough athletes and a style of play to score enough and force enough TOs to make up for it.  Perhaps NU did that a bit as well.  But I don't think its any coincidence ISU, NU, Tech, and CU were 4 of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the league, and also 4 of the worst 5 teams in the league.

On a side note, saw Dexter Pittman at the media hotel last night as I was getting off the elevator. He is in the best shape of his career, looks a lot different. Weighed in a 281 pounds the other day, and Barnes said he's lost more than 100 pounds now since coming to Texas.

I'm still amazed at how well we've rebounded.  #1 Rebounding Offense, #3 Rebounding Defense in the Big 12 Overall.  It's single handedly the reason we were a decent team.  And probably will always be moving forward.

Yeah, K-State ranked 18th in the nation in total rebounding last season. Very impressive

why does it surprise you that a frank martin coached team rebounds the ball well?  everything about frank martin screams that his teams will outwork their opponents.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Yeah, this should be no surprise.  This IS Frank Martin.

And when you go by offensive rebound %, we were the best in the country.

Doc Sadler: "I guess the NCAA felt bad for us by giving us 14 scholarships. I guess they know how bad we are going to be."

On having size: "I don't know what I'll do with it. It's been so long since I've had a guy over 6-foot."

I take it as a bad sign that Sadler has hardly no voice at all. I mean, his voice is cracking like a little boy hitting puberty.

well, like, it surprises me because his team has actually done it.  a lot of coaches say they want to do things but then can't do them.  remember when wooly said he wanted to play "up tempo" before every year started? i'm sure doc and bzdfaselafdak and mcneck say they'd like to do a lot of things...and then their teams don't.  maybe I'm just surprised that we have what appears like a competent coach?

Pat Knight: "People were on my ass last year about giving up so many points." (talking about his team's inability to play man defense last season due to a lack of talent and depth).

Knight believes this is his best team since he got there and that they can go 12-deep. All most made it sound like he has too much talent and won't know who to play.

Could you tell if his hair is like that because he is trying to cover up a receading hairline or does he just like it to look like that?

Or they don't think much of your guards.  Like K-State with Hoskins/Martin.  We'll see.
