After a 3 hour lay over in DFW, I'm getting ready for my flight to Burbank to watch the cats. Lo and behold there are two special visitors on this flight. First John Currie approaches the gate. Then a K-State legend appears...

]

Yes the one and only Jim Wooldridge boards the flight with me. Afterwards he approaches our group and suggests to us that we hit up the Sunset Strip for a good time on a Friday night. Amazing encounter.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Very nice guy. Actually we came from KCI to DFW and then Wooly was on our flight to Burbank. Talked very fondly of KSU and asked us about Wally, CK, etc.

Not doing a terrible job at UCR either.  Went from 7 wins before he got there to 9 in his first year to 17 last year.  If only we hadn't injured him.   :curse:

How old are you? You look like you are the same age as Winters.

    Wait...what?

Awesome.  Guy couldn't get it done here, but he was a K-Statriot.  Will never forget his mid-court tirade against the officials in a ku game when he told them a call was "absolute f*cking bullsh*t."

Love the guy, don't love having him as our coach.  Did he look like he was enjoying Terminal B?  :dunno:

Wooly: KSU Fans most intense love/hate relationship?

The Wooly era was such an enigma . . . at certain points of a lot of games, his teams could play some great basketball, ripping off some nice runs . . .and then a whole bunch of other times you were like all wtf??

Plus all the weirdness with his players and handling personnel . . . strange stuff.

Alright, I can remember down at Tech, K-State got down as per usual by about 16, next thing you knew they went on a run and were right back in the game . . . then Wooly started trying to play coach again and  :'byecruelworld:

Excellent thread and excellent pic.  Always be some Woolite in me.

And dax is right, Wooly's teams were able to put together momentary runs, and had quite a few like the Tech game mentioned where they came back to make a game close and give you a little hope, but never finish.  And to build the leads they lost (like OSU in the Gon) they played pretty good stretches of basketball.

UC-Riverside is probably about the right place for Wooly.

I can add something here - Wooly is great friends with Rice football coach David Bailiff; they both have roots at Texas State. There is a chance that if Wooly comes to Houston to see Bailiff, yeah, I might be hanging out with Wooly.

Don't hate...

I don't think ytou can leave this sort of thing to chance.  Snag some stationary at the next presser, and fashion a makshift "invite" for Wooly.

By the way, I also miss JMart like Kellis' wife misses not telling people she just ran into the darned door.
