Fran Fraschilla picks K-State to finish 5th. That seems a little low imo.

    Hey, basketball!!!
No wonder Mike is depressed. Even Fran is against him!!!

Quote
In other words, the Wildcats appear to be building for the long haul this season, not the one-and-done success that Beasley brought to town.

^ Hate this.

I think it's accurate. 4th is very possible as well. I think this is your best team since the 80's but unfortunately for you all the big 12 is loaded this year. ku and ut are near locks at 1 and 2. Ou looks pretty solid for the third spot. That leaves ksu, tamu and osu battling for the 4-6 spots. Mu will finish 7th IMO.

I think we beat OU for that third spot.  We have a significant advantage being able to play the nortards and pad our win count.  We have pretty good talent at every position on the floor, and experience to boot.  If we don't finish at least fourth, I'd be surprised.

Our South rotation is favorable with UT, oSu, and aTm at home. I say 3rd is not out of the question.   :koolaid: :koolaid:

Nobody ever accounts for the unbalanced shedule in these things.  KSU has the inside track at 3rd because they get to play the Nortards twice while A&M, OSU, OU and even Baylor beat each other up.  I'm not sure why it's so hard to figure out, but it always is.  I could see 5th seed (or even lower) in the tourny by virture of tiebreaker, but outright 5th?  4 teams with better conference records?  That would be a pretty big disappointment.

    I may be full of sh*t, but i won't be de-turd.
meh, Big 12's talent this year is amazing. Can see us finishing anywhere from 6th to 3rd. As long as we get a 1st round bye in the Big 12 tourney, I'm happy.
I walk out of that tunnel in this building and the passion of our fans, just gets me going. I mean just gives me an adrenaline rush that you guys just don't understand. - Frank Martin

no kidding, we were 4th last year with a 2nd yr coach, less talent & less experience.  Basically have all of our talent from last year back plus Wally and CK.  Sorry blanco tigre and Mr Puerto Rico, but WJ + CK >>> LC (this yr or last) + DK

This is just my opinion but I think we will finish 2nd in the big 12. We are a sleeper team within this conference why because we have never accomplished anything. Lets look at the big picture Delante Hill wether you like it or not is at the top of his profession with bringing in talent to manhattan and with the pick up of Rodney Mcgruder we may have recieved the fire power we need to go over the top. This game is now based striclty on talent Dennis Clemente, Wally judge, Jamar Samuels, Dominique Sutton and last but not least Jacob Pullen are all talented atheletes. Do we have the team to win now yes. Competition is the breeding ground of champions and what we have now is position by position warfare within the basketball program. The cream will rise to the top and the program will rise with it!

F*cking fantastic post.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I think the unbalanced schedule is a good point, but an overemphasized one. Lots of teams are going to play in Lincoln and lose - save UT and ku this season (not sure if the Horns play there this year or not). Hilton Magic is tough - although not so much lately. CU blows - I'll give you that one. MU is down this year, but historically not an easy place to play.

In the South, Tech is not exactly tough. Baylor is overrated. I'm not sold on A&M. UT and OU are quality teams this season and Okie St is always a tough place to play. Conventional wisdom claims that the South is superior. It may be, but the gap is no longer that much, at least not enough to make the argument that unbalanced scheduling is what will make KSU finish 3rd (or wherever)...

Frank agrees w/ my general points...

"There's been so much said about the issue of the North and South, whatever it may be. Historically, on this side of the league, (it's) just so difficult for people to go on the road and win. The only way you can do that is to get enough players that can do it."

18-18 - North v. South record last season...

FWIW - I say the Cats finish 4th in conf and make the dance...

    Check me out!
I liked this part:

Kansas
So the Jayhawks are going to be pretty good. If you don't know that, it's not likely you're reading this anyway. Only a hoops fan stranded in Alabama (or some other state where the moon looks mysteriously like a football all fall) or a person who doesn't know a box-and-one from Botox doesn't know that Kansas will be, and deserves to be, the national championship favorite when this season officially tips off.
