Anyone else think that the Husker fans got their skull and cross bones arm/hand signal that they are doing now for their "vaunted" blackshirts from our Lynch Mob hand signal?  I don't remember seeing that prior to this season from the 'Skers.  Funny how that happens when you have jealous fans who can't stand the fact that the once lowely doormat KSU program has owned you for the past 10 years prior to the last two seasons.......

You guys in Manhattan have televisions by now don't you? I would imagine since they've been around for 50+ years now, they've made their way down there finally. As other posters have noted, the Blackshirts have done the skull and crossbones since at least the mid-90's.

The idea that KSU has "owned us" is as amusing as it is false. The only thing you own is a team that until a few years ago was the worst team in college football. Then you put together a few solid seasons. Now you're drifting back to laughingstock status.

So I hope you took some pictures along the way. KSU will be a cellar dweller for the forseeable future. There's a reason Snyder decided to retire. Rats have instincts about sinking ships after all.

bb still works!

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you get an oil tanker full of retarded skers.

Well, unless your "Lynch Mob" was back around the 1993-1994 season (which is highly unlikely, considering you guys were still getting every other team in division 1 A's dicks slapped in your face at the time), I'm pretty sure we're the ones that started it.

Highly unlikely?

Quote
"I don't remember who came up with it, but the players nicknamed themselves that," recalled Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, who ended his tenure as a K-State assistant in 1995 as defensive co-coordinator with Jim Leavitt.

"They got a big kick out of it. When we pulled in to play Colorado State in the Holiday Bowl, we had two buses. The first one was labeled, 'Offense,' and they wrote, 'Lynch Mob' on the second one. They took a lot of pride in playing defense in a tough, aggressive way."

And from this article in 1997:

Quote
To its credit, Kansas State University has distanced itself from the name by not using it officially and saying that it is a name the players chose themselves. However, just hoping the name will die has become a pipe dream. The name has been around for several years and has become a rite-of-passage from one team to another.

Gotta love the husker fans - I love yanking their chain!  And the mere fact that so many decided to react to my post is validation that they can't take the fact that we were one of the main reasons for their decline in the late 90's early 00's.  And now that they have beaten us in Manhattan for the first time in 10 years, they feel they can pop off - good for husker fan.

Thanks for the back up on the Lynch Mob thing, plaincat.  I was only posing a question because I did not ever remembered seeing the huskers do it on tv until this year, especially throwing bones with the owl eyes that I suppose is to represent the skull(LAME). I knew KSU had to have come up with the Lynch Mob first - huskers don't know how to put their hands together unless they are clapping for another mediocre husker football team.

The best part is that huskers don't understand good sportsmanship.  I shook those husker fans' hands after they beat us and congratulated them and they turned to their pals and laughed.  Good luck against the Pokes this weekend, Huskers.  Their offense is the best you will have faced all year.  Should be interesting.  :poundon:   :ustupid:    :ku:    :nahnah:

Actually, those "owl eyes" you speak of represent a 3-and-Out (see: a zero followed by three fingers)...

Just thought I'd clarify...

BTW, none of these actions are recent phenomena.  Some of those Husker fans who posted previously were undoubtedly conservative in their date estimates.  I don't desire to be involved in some ridiculous Lynch Mob vs. Blackshirts debate, however...

Good to know, Husker142.  I only raised the question because I didn't know and was curious.  The nice Husker fans that sat in front of me a few weeks ago did the owl eye thing, but in a sweeping motion with one hand, which I took to be a 3 and out as well.

Anyhow, yes, it is a stupid debate, and I will conceed that NU and their Blackshirts have had a far longer tradition of great defenses and National Championships than KSU.  So there really is no historic comparison to speak of.  But our successes since the creation of the Big 12 have made it much more fun since there is now somewhat of a recent rivalry.

For the record, I hope you guys smoke MU this weekend.  Keeping the Big 12 North Division Championships to the three who have won them seems to be a good thing to me.  I like keeping MU, ISU and ku in the North cellar. And since it won't be CU and our chances are very little (would take miraculous wins in our final three coupled with complete collapses by MU and NU) I am for it going to NU.

Screw that....  I hope that Chase Daniel throws for about 500 yards and Coffman and Rucker each catch 3 TD passes apiece.

Life, and football in general, will be FAR MORE entertaining if the 'skers are 6-5 going into the final week of the season and battling us for bowl selection positioning.

Nebraska fans are actually well known for being some of the classiest in college football. If you ever come up to Lincoln, you'll be treated nicely and with respect.

You forgot to add " if we win"...to the end of the above quote.
"You guys want answers that are conversations between John and I. I ain't worried about it. I'm living the dream.... When I start worrying about a contract, I'd be cheating the kids and not doing my job." - Frank Martin
