They can paint a sign in the OOD that says ksufans copycat.  Hell, I'll do it over the summer.  I'll pay for the paint since the AD probably doesn't have the money to buy a few buckets.

I'll spray an EMAW sign together before the WSU game.  But &@#% Ahearn.  If we really want to throw back then let us hang from the rafters.

That's a picture of Allen Fieldhouse.

Ahearn didn't have a center hung scoreboard until the Mid 1970's.

LOL, check out sd's "that looks like a dump" comment above

LOL . . . good one.

They were so desperate to trump K-State's Ahearn Fieldhouse, and Phog Allen was so pissed off that K-State had the political clout to get the steel to build Ahearn Fieldhouse (in a time when the US was recoving from steel shortages from World War II production and also involved in the Korean War) . . . that they conned the state into calling Allen Fieldhouse a National Guard Armory.

Overheard a convo at the OOD today between frank and I believe a large donor on the phone. To sum up Frank has wanted to play at least one game in Ahearn the past two years but was shut down by weefer and his minions. But since Frank and Mr. Currie are bff's currie is now on board and trying to get this set up.
Frank says he has heard all about all the historic games and homecourt advantage ahearn had and wants to experience the atmoshpere himself!!

Thoughts?   :ksu: :ksu:

I call  :AzCatBS:

No BS on this from the horses mouth, and since I have spent just as much time this summer in Ahearn as OOD I can vouch that it looks amazing in there. and as far as structurally, I had to walk the catwalk and it was just fine.
On the tickets I have no clue, didnt get to stick around to here nething about that.( had to actually go work  :yuck: )

Being a younger EMAW'er I never got to experience an Ahearn game, so I would like to see what it is all about.

They did put in a brand new Indoor Track at Ahearn . . . some powerful players are trying to make something happen in Ahearn, I don't necessarily agree with it myself, but if they can pull it off and make a nice chunk of money . . . so be it I guess.   ADJC is curious, but only going to sign off on it if it's absolutely going to produce a significant profit.

You wouldn't be able to anyway.  Ticket preferencing for a game like that would go to donors first and then be crazy expensive for the rest of us who might be able to get a ticket unless they did it for a no name team, and then what is the point?  And it would not feel like the old days at all.  Part of the old days feeling was the familiarity with the home venue and the caliber of teams that played there and plain old tradition.  One game is not going to bring it back.  If it was one less cat basketball game I got to go see I'd not be happy about it.

there'd be no room for $3 popcorn in ahearn.  we'd be stuck with $2 popcorn (which they'd probably try to charge $3 for in order to pay for their stupid ahearn renovation).  it's depressing to think about.

Seems like that new track has been done forever, and I think they only really did that too give the tracksters another place to practice indoors besides Brandenbury.

True story:  LSOC had a letter to the editor of the Collegian all typed up on his computer that advocated moving the KSU v. uk game to Ahearn.  Was very seriously ready to print and send but then he got distracted and went to Todd Road 'riad and forgot all about it, until now.

I did a comparison paper on astro turf v. grass.  Had several students approach me at drinking establishments later and tell me it was very well done.

    Gettin' angried up!!!
Lotta dudes chiming in on this thread that have probably never actually attended a game at Ahearn.  Sounds like something fun to do for one game, so why not?  Seems like there would be a pretty nice buzz going on the week leading up to it.  Also, if they did decide to go throw-back uni for the game, that would give us tons of photoshopping ideas to waste time on for awhile...  Provided they didn't just break out the lavenders again.

I love the lavs. I would just like to see them break out an additional throw-back.  Not to replace the lavs, but merely to supplement the greatness of the lavs.

I think we should have an invitational tournament and play the initial game at Nichols, Semifinals at Ahearn, and Championship game at The Gon.

Awesome, awesome idea.  Would we go with Biddy or MAYB teams?  Extra points for any biddy team that shows up in lavender unis.

I was thinking a garbage title d-1 tournament like the chicks put on with teams like Ark State and Lipscom.  Maybe put one decent team on the opposite end of the bracket for the Bram game.

Would get a lot of media attention, however.

it's a retarded idea, unless this is true.

if they could take a ooc game, get a dece opponent and get it on espn using the ahearn angle, then it would be worth it.
