    This ZERO is my Hero
Living in Pittsburgh the last 6 years I have now just slowly got into hockey the last two years.

I rooted for the Pens to win, and I guess its cool that they did, but in no way felt real joy from them winning the cup.

But have started to enjoy hockey a lot more, never took to it back in the KS, but now its growing on me.

Any hockey fans out there?

not a fan, but I watched my first full game during the Wings/Pens series (michigan).  Game 7 was awesome to watch.

All Rise... The Judge is in the house.
Hockey is exciting when you can tell something is on the line... I watched game 7 and the intensity level was very very high.. Really fun to watch not being a hockey fan.

Yea, I was at a bar for game 7 and my friends were sweating bullets, while I was just enjoying a great game.  I was actually happy when the wings scored to make it 2-1 because I knew that would even further increase the intensity.

But after they won I was mildly thrilled for the Pens and my friends, the thing was that it became a painful reminder to how far off my teams are from winning anything of actual meaning.

    Sniff Sniff. . . I smell Heisman.
Back in the early 2000's and late 90's I was big into hockey. My team was the Avalanche. My god were they good. The Avs were my second favorite sports team behind EMAW. Once they had the lockout, I pretty much lost interest, mainly because it wasn't on TV anymore.

that game 7 was amazing, really. the story lines...the way it ended.

hockey deserves better. would love to see KC nab a "pucks" team
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Me too. Remember when they were believed to be a front runner for the Pens?

Yep, the NHL used and abused us on that one.  They never had any intention of moving the Pens; however, I thought KC was suppose to get Nashville, guess not.  Shame that fancy arena is going to end up being a utter waste except for like 10 days out of the year.

When the Sonics went to OKC things got very dicey for the Sprint center.  I still think we could get a NHL team, and support it.  Just don't know when that will be now.

There were talks during this season about the New York Islanders moving to KC. A lot of Islander fans think their preseason game against the Kings at the Sprint Center this fall is a sign of an eventual move. The Pens used us to get a better arena deal out of Pittsburgh.

I am a big fan of hockey. Grew up a Rangers fan. Always liked Mark Messier.

    warm up the EMAW
Let's face it.  Detroit is an awesome sports city.  Lions are looking like a legit threat in the NFC North, the Tigers are in 1st and the Wings are robbed of the Stanley Cup.

It is great to be Detroit right now folks! :excited:

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the whole league the Blades were in (IHL) folded like 5+ years ago.

I'm a hockey fan.  Grew up playin in KC.  Good times.  K-State had a club roller hockey team when I was in school (2001-2005).  They traveled all the stinkin' time.  Doubt if the team is still together.  It was pretty competitive too, from what I hear.  Not just a bunch of jokers who couldn't skate.
I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

You stole my answer. Even went to a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup playoffs once. It was a First Round series between the Avs and Minnesota Wild. It turned out to be Patrick Roy's last game. HD is the best thing to ever happen to hockey.

used to have season tickets for the dallas stars.  hockey fans- understand their sport more than any other sport's spectators imo.

Why do fans of obscure sports always say this?

Me thinks it has to do with the fact that it is more difficult to become a fan of these sports because it actually requires that the spectator has to search out information on the league. Therefore, the fans of the sport are really enthusiasts.

Whereas, with the big 3 you have a large percentage of people who know very little outside of watching the highlights on the local news or skimming the headline in the paper the next day.   :dunno:

I bet it was.  Must be hard to skate on dirt roads and dodging tumble weeds.

No, because most hockey fans live in hockey cities.

I disagree 100%.  I was watching the stanley cup with some "hardcore" wings fans, and would ask questions about the rules, and they'd have no idea, and would admit it.  They actually seemed pretty clueless.

lol, no.  they'd just say dorky stuff like, "omg these young guys can't phase yszerman!!!" or other various nonsense.  Also lots of loud clapping in public places when no one cared but them.
