You don't declare. They pick you and if you want to go you go.
csourk is the best pre-college poster on this board.  way better than oxlp956

Exactly... This is part of the reason why there are 50 or so rounds plus supplemental picks... About 1/4 or so of players that each team drafts is unlikely to sign, especially players selected in the late rounds.

Unless he doesn't get the money he wants... Considering he had probably his best season he will ever have this year I'd say he needs to go now or risk something bad happening next year...

Don't listen to these bastards, A.J!  But seriously how does the MLB get away with drafting kids and then letting them choose?  Could the NFL or NBA change their systems to make that work for them?

Pittsburgh with the first questionable pick in the draft... They just brought up their catcher of the future and now they select a decent catcher with the 4th pick... very interesting...

My mock draft has been spot on.  No misses thus far.

How you doing 0506?  Not as well I bet.

Looking through everyone that was left this was probably one of the better choices they could have made to select Crow... I think taking that shortstop Grant Greene would have been a good pick to but I think Crow was a safe pick and will be solid for the Royals in the future.

It works because of the minor leagues, would NEVER work in the NFL.

Yeah i'd say he should come back now... obviously teams aren't buying the hype and they think he is just a one year wonder... His signing bonus will be nothing special now the he will be in the 4+ round range... I say he should come back now.

He'll still almost certainly leave. He'll also still get a good signing bonus too. If he comes back he will have no leverage.

Crow is a much better pitching prospect than Hochevar IMO. Throws with more velocity and is more of a competitor.

I don't get what would make you think his signing bonus is gonna be all that high... You have to think that the reason why one of the best pitchers in college baseball this past season hasn't been taken yet is because teams are worried about a one year wonder situation and he would flame out once in the minors...

Morris drafted with the 112th pick by the Nationals.

This may be good... the Nats are going to be throwing the bank at Strasburg... probably won't have much else to offer Morris after that...

Edit: Oh and Daris what do you think about the Royals taking a catcher with their 2nd pick?  :jerkoff:

Hopefully AJ follows MLB and realizes that the Nats are a horrible organization and comes back in 2010.
I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

The 4th round is very high in a 50 round draft. I can only think of a couple of college juniors that have been taken in the 5th round or better that have ever come back to college. It is extremely rare. AJ will get offered a bonus of at least $100,000 I would say. I think it'll be difficult to turn down because he won't get a better offer next year.

So if he comes back next year and does exactly what he did this year or close to you think he will still be a 4th round or so pick with a somewhat small signing bonus? If he comes back and does what he did this year he has to be a top 2 round draft pick ... if not a top 15 overall pick...
