How the frack do you live in tiny-ass towns? I mean like wtf do you do to pass your time? Seems like it would suck and there'd be nothing to do or see. What's life like?

I have many friends from small towns. I guess back in the day they used to just drive around and get hammered.

It's not like people in larger towns really get out and enjoy all the social offering any more than small town people.  Mostly what this translates into is places to eat, and/or you are single and have the ability to crush strange ass frequently.  Assuming you like to cook, or you aren't particularly discriminating about where you eat, there really isn't much difference in lifestyle for most people....if you are lucky enough to have what it takes to consistently nail strange, then stay away from small towns.

Yeah.  I mean, cire lived in KC his entire life and it took him like 8 years to find Grinders for christ's sake.

Happiness comes from inside, from the soul.  You can be content with what you have or you can always desire to have more.  Unless you live in the river basin of the SW, you can always seek solace in nature.  There's quite a lot to be said for walking outside and hearing birds, the wind whistling through the trees, and a spring thunderstorm, rather than be bombarded by traffic noises, police sirens, and your domestic abuse neighbors fighting at 3AM.

    Sniff Sniff. . . I smell Heisman.
This thread is like the story of my life. . .

During school you are involved with sports and stuff so that takes up a good chunk of your time. On weekend's you just call up some friends and just chill at somebody's house watch some TV, do whatever.

Come summer time, you basically go lift from about 6-9 am and then that's about it for the physically demanding part of it. If you have good/fun friends that aren't content with just doing nothing, summer goes by pretty quickly. At times though, the whole small town part of life can get pretty annoying. (driving 80 or so miles roundtrip to watch a movie in theaters.)

But I've have good friends that are good smelling people, so we usually don't have a problem getting bored or anything.

^  goes to GC for fun.

The only difference between a small crap kansas town and a big crap kansas town is that it takes longer to get anywhere in the big towns.  the idea of superiority from someone who lives in topeka or wichita is hilarious.

I wouldn't necessarily say "fun", but to watch a movie and to shop, yes.

    warm up the EMAW
Folks, let's be honest here.

Living in the Little Apple is pretty great.

I walk to the bars, bike when tooling around town, play soccer with foreigners @ Old Stadium, hang with young professional up n comers @ RAB, CoCo's whatever, drive out to Little Grill on a lazy summer afternoon and hold it down for hours, get ridic and let the wedding ring wiggle in to the 5th pocket on my Levi's @ tub club (for no reason) or just hanging out around Mt. EMAW.

I mean it really is the best.

Alright Small Town EMAWS!

It's time for the sd Small Town Off!  Post the population of the town you are from!  The closest one to the smallest wins a small prize.  GO!

1,400 (roughly)

3 miles outside of a town of about 100.  What did I do growing up? :skillz: We would go to the park and hoop it up all summer long.  One of my friends had a pool and it turned into the towns public pool pretty much every summer.  Then in a small town you would work 12-14 hour days on the farm.  Did this from age 13-18 untill getting to move to EMAWville.  Lots of driving around building random stuff out in the trees (moonshine stils, meth labs)  You know all the common things.

My hometown has too much population to win this contest.  As of the 2000 census, Atchison, KS has a population of 10,232.

I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !

So, a full 5.25% of your town's population was in your graduating class?  Is it one of those children of the corn towns where everyone is killed when they turn 25 or something?

    IT'S DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL!!!
You have to be creative.  Gather a large amount of hedge balls into the back of a pickup.  Drive the country side chucking them at mailboxes.  Keep score.

Also, go on a fishing trip.  Catch of bunch of small fish.  Drive the country side putting small fish in mailboxes.
