I was at the baseball game last night in Lawrence, sat two rows behind Robert.  He's still at it.  "Double play!" (with two outs).  "Balk!"  (with no one on base).

We were at the Mizzou and Texas Tech baseball games in MHK and Robert came up to us on several occassions and discussed all that is K-State sports.  We gave him a hot dog each time.  He then went back to his car and put it in his glove compartment.  His nickname serves him well.  Not surprisingly, he turned down my offer of a cold beer.

He said he gets comp. tickets for the MBB team.  Lucky guy.  Said he hasn't met the new AD yet.  His mind is not made up whether it is a good hire.  Not surprisingly, he's going to the Big 12 baseball tournament this weekend.

For those of you who have not been lucky enough to talk to him, he has nicknames for every Big 12 team and coach.  Tejas are the "Mad Cows", Okie State is "Pistol Pete".  OB is "William the Conquerer" .   Ted Owens is "Technical Ted".  He expressed distaste for Lon Krueger.  Thought that was odd.

In short, the man is more EMAW than any of us will ever be.
I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

he has an extra for every game?  did you get an email address or some contact info?
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

I doubt it.  I'm sure he gets only one because he's always solo.

yes, i'm sure he prefers to watch alone.  that doesn't mean he doesn't have an extra ticket.

This is true.  I'll ask him next time I see him.

But you're right, I'm sure he likes to watch alone.  What does he need a friend to go to the game with, he has thousands of friends in the parking lot before each football game.

Has he ever been married?

I was wondering who the &@#% you guys were talking about till I saw this. Here's my weird Rob story

My friends and I were tailgating for one of the Katz vs Mizzou game in MHK. He comes batcrap out of nowhere and goes:

"We'll I'll be, it feels like summer solstice only its April!"

Then he keeps babbling about some sh1t that no one cares about.

My friends and I were completely puzzled and had nothing to say back.

Right in the middle, to the left of the dude in the Oakland A's hat.  Was that taken in Austin?  Or MHK?

We'd give him a hot dog, and he'd leave to go put it in his glove box and say, "I'll be back in one hundred seconds".  Weird.

Yeah, that guy's a character ...

He stopped by our tailgate for a bit.

I remember seeing him corner Coach Mangino last year at the Hog, it was "interesting"

I was watching a basketball game at Nebraska, and the score was 19-18. Weird Robert shouted out, "1918! That's when World War I ended..."

He walked by our tailgate at the spring game and I offered him some cooked sausage hot off the grill so he picked up 3 cut pieces and placed them in a clear plastic sack with other pieces of food. Gotta love it. One other time a young lady I was walking by had just bought a hot dog and he passed by and said you gonna eat that dog or is that dog gonna eat you and walked off. She had a look like she was the most confused person in the world. Priceless!
It's a tremendous challenge here. I think it has the opportunity for the greatest turnaround in college football. It is not one to be taken lightly. ---------- Bill Snyder ( Nov 30th, 1988)

Would offer him food at tailgates and he'd just grab the unopened bag of chips and put them in his sack...

Does anybody know what he does when he's NOT at k-state sporting events. Like do they keep him in a cage in the bowels of the OoD and release him for games or what?
“Nobody plays harder than Kansas State.  Bilas said that to me in person,” Martin said. Now, does that mean that I’m happy every day?  No, because it’s our job to continue to get those guys to continue to grow.”

    Sniff Sniff. . . I smell Heisman.
When I went up to a basketball game in Boulder I saw him. He asked me if I thought that we were going to beat Buffalo. I was like "Buffalo? What the hell man?". Then he was like, "You know, Buffalo?" It then came to my realization that he was talking about CU and I responded with a "Hell to the yeah!" He then high fived me and I sprinted to the nearest restroom to use more soap and hot water than ever recorded by man.
