maybe so but just think... by the time RP left, we had nowhere to go but up. even if he could eventually vary between 6-8 wins, AND could have pulled enough crazy stunts like a 6'7" Josh Freeman and a 5'7" Brandon Banks to keep people interested and KSU in the highlights (mostly for the worst).... I would rather have that than a coach who's as likely to croak as find his way to an 8 win season. Nowhere to go but down for the Synd's.
What makes you think there was any upward direction in the program by the time RP left?
I really don't think RP has it in him to run a 6-8 win program. Not at this particular point in time anyway, or not at K-State.
well it would have been tough to get much worse. Prince like most of his players had "tremendous upside potential" which means they weren't worth a damn... but at least we would be getting fooled by a legitimate salesman rather than an old man who just wants a little more glory before he starts arranging his own funeral
Incredible how ignorant you are.
Yeah, I don't get this. Snyder certainly has an ego, but he didn't come back to get glory. He came back to fix what he thought Prince had torn apart.
And I'm definately not saying it will work, I have plenty of concerns whether or not Snyder will ultimately be able to get it done, namely if he and his staff will be able to recruit at the necessary levels to succeed. But there is something to be said about having a sound coached team, sound schemes, etc.; I don't care if that's not popular to say at ksufans.com or not b/c its simply true. However, you've got to fit talented players into those sound schemes at a place like K-State.
We aren't going to be USC or Texas, but we should be able to build a roster of a bunch of 3-star level guys (minimum) mixed in with several 4-stars and occasionally perhaps a 5-star player. When you are playing with that level of talent, then you better have them in the right places and playing fundamental football, but there is no doubt in my mind you can win that way. Now if we continue to have a large base of 2-star (or worse) players with a few 3-stars, then no, this will not work, no matter how well coached. That to me is the ultimate question with Bill Snyder and the staff he has put together.
