Wonder which bball game he is going to be in town for.  One thing we have an advantage on all the schools except UNC on is bball crowd support.  Actually, UNC hoops crowds are pretty blah, hopefully he is wowed by the bball EMAW.

Hopefully he is pretty meh about nonstop sellouts and constant top-5 rankings.  Cause, if so, we got UNC beat when it comes to b-ball games and crowds.

"I have to do what's best for me," Newton said. "I'm not going to a situation where they're already stacked at the quarterback position. I want to go to a school where I have the capability of playing right away and where I'm going to be the man. I have to play right now. There's no ifs ands or buts about it."

Kansas State is perfect for Newton.

Agreed, but I seriously doubt the coaches are guaranteeing him the starting spot like they should be doing.

Our coaches need to learn this won't get good players in key positions to come play for you.  "You have to earn it" strategy isn't the best for guys like Cam.

agreed, they need to tell Cam that he is going to start no matter what. One would have to think that Cam would know that he would be the man here. Joe Bob should be recruiting him and reliving the DoD days and how Bish et al got whatever he wanted.

I'm not sure how it would be a lie unless somehow CH or SL are tearing it up way more than I suspect they are. In that case  :woohoo:

The sad thing is Newton really wouldn't have to earn it at KSU and would have to at OU, UNC, and Auburn, but those programs are going to be telling him he'll walk right in and start from day one.

If I were our coaches, I would be pumping up Bishop as much as possible and mentioning Freeman as much as one can to let him know that, yes, he can succeed here and be a first round draft pick, which playing in the NFL is big goal of his.

Talked a O-lineman today and he said there is no way lamur will be QB next year because he is too dumb and can't learn the plays. His guess was Coffman next year :-[

I am getting rid of all my shoelaces, neck ties and anything that can support 200+lb... if Coffman starts next yr, we do worse than this yr - only difference, we could have done something about it. This staff is entirely to blame for any lack of success on the Offense if we are starting Coffman.

I already said this once, but if necessary go to the triple option.  Harper, Thomas, and Flanders or Hubert.  Run it.

Dude, Sammy didn't get to practice with the team until the very last minute.  It took the month off before the Fiesta Bowl for Bishop to get a decent grasp on the playbook and that turned out all right for us.  Hopefully Sammy sleeps with that damn playbook for the next 9 months or so and is ready for the fall practices.  Actually, hopefully Sammy plays WR for us next year and Cam Newton is able to learn the playbook when he gets here in December.

    Catch it!
So if next year goes similar to this year at 7-5, does currie decide to move in another direction?  Its obvious that the recruiting aspect of the Game has passed this staff by.  We need to make a move if nothing has happened in two years.

This would be the staff's first actual class.  And you can't really judge a class's talent or success during their true freshman year.  If Currie simply rates recruiting classes on their team rankings on Rival's and Scout, then we should probably move in a different direction at AD.

Yeah may have jumped the gun a bit, but it has been a slow decline from Snydz last stint.  So thats kinda the source to my first post.  I just want to see us jump on a weak big XII north so bad, I can still taste 2003 and me LIKEY!!!!!

Just found out that Geno Grissom is going to take an official visit to LSU in January.  They have told him he is their #1 lineman they are recruiting.  Maybe we should at least try and go after him, especially now that ku is in shambles.

Gilchrist has apparently skipped his trip to Kansas. He said earlier that if doesn't go on the trip it means he made his decision on where to go to school.

Jeremy Crabtree just reported Gilchrist commited to Houston because of the lack of scholarships for the semester. I'm guessing they are holding onto one for Newton.
