I wasn't really expecting Herring to stay committed.

I kind of wish our fanbase would go more pyscho when a kid de-commits for another school.

We could learn alot from  :redface: Nubb in that regard.

Its too early right now, cause the football program is essentially in limbo.  If we knew we had a solid team and these kids decommitting might add that missing piece or two to become great, then the likely hood for a meltdown would be higher. Right now half of us don't believe Snyds can do it again, so a kid with potential decommitts and nobody really blinks.

It’s a process.  Rome wasn’t built in a day.

But, for instance I’d really prefer if Wyatt Thompson would go on Kansas City radio and make outlandish statements about this kid's family and how he’ll probably get injured the next time we play Wisconsin.

Instead, the first reaction is “Oh well, wish the kid luck”.

If we ever want to get where we want to be, we need to get better at this.

I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

When you are seriously mulling over an ECU offer you are prolly a two star in SD's book of quarterback ratings (the best and most accurate QB rating book that the pros cannot do without for the last 75 years)

Hey guys, just joined the board.  I was a big fan of Vic Koenning.  So, you know the time period I went to KSU.  I didn't follow the recruiting boards back in the 90's, probably because the internet wasn't so prevalent.  What I would like to know is how many stars were the likes of Jeff Kelly, Terry Pierce, Darren Howard, Kevin and Arron Lockett, David Allen and some of the other stars through the late 90's and early 2000's.  And how did some of the classes from back then compare on a national level.  If Bill could get them then why not now?  Or were these guys all 2 star guys that Bill turned into all Big 12 performers?  Somebody tell me why they preceive such a difference in his ability to recruit from then till now, is it his assistant coaches?

kind of how you act like you don't try at various stuff, so when you lose you can say, "nut-uh. i didn't even try"
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

O.P Walker's Urell Johnson has decommitted from Southern Miss and is looking for a school that could be a better fit. The 3-star defensive back is now considering Texas Tech and Kansas State. The door is not completely closed on the Golden Eagles.

Baylor, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, Tennessee, Virginia and Louisiana Tech have all offered Johnson and could squeeze into the sweepstakes.

Johnson (6'0-175, 4.55) has good closing speed on the ball and explosion. He anticipates very well but needs some work on tackling.

Rivals' bio = :star::star::star:

they were all really good, and wanted by really good schools.

Yes, it is his sh*tty assistants that keep him from getting good players today.

Howard wasn't that highly recruited. He came to KSU and really had to bulk up in a big way, then became an absolute beast. TP was 1 star and committed to Mizzou at one point.  No idea how many offers he had, he'd have to speak on that, but based on his measurables I thought at the time his ranking was a joke. Kelly was very highly recruited. I am pretty sure Allen had a lot of offers. The Locket bros I'm not sure about but OU didn't offer either of them and I don't think OSU did either but I'm not certain on that.

DHCM,
Thanks for the answer.  It does give me some insight.  If in reality we did it 15 years ago with 2 and 3 star athletes, then we can do it again.  I just wasn't sure if we had higher rated athletes then, than we do now.  Does anyone know how our recruiting classes ranked in the mid to late 90's through 03, on a national level?

According to Rivals:
2003 = #60
2002 = #14

No record of prior years.
