Lineman quits K-State football team
By HOWARD RICHMAN The Kansas City Star
Kansas State sophomore offensive lineman Matt Boss has quit the team, Wildcats’ sports information director Garry Bowman said in an e-mail response about Boss to The Star.
Bowman indicated Boss, rated the No. 10 lineman in the country by TheInsiders.com coming out of Cherryvale, Kan., High School, informed coach Ron Prince this week he was quitting. Bowman said he would put out an official statement on it later today.
Boss, who started three games in 2005 at right guard but was slowed by injuries last year, played in only the Florida Atlantic game this year. Boss redshirted in 2004.
Also, senior running back Thomas Clayton is on the dress list for Saturday’s game against Oklahoma State, Bowman said. There have been rumors that Clayton, demoted to third team behind Leon Patton and Terry Petrie, had been suspended. Bowman said he has not been told of any suspension in regards to Clayton by the coaching staff.
