Yeah, I don't know if I'm comfortable with this.  Hopefully the pres. just names his man and tells the commitee who it is.

I don't want either of those two even remotely close to this committee.

Should be a quick decision if Merriwether is on the committee. He always hustles. /rimshot

I agree 100%, but I was shocked that Bill's fingerprints wouldn't be all over this.  Although, it could just mean that Sean is not on the committee because he will be the new AD.

If Sean Snyder is AD you can go ahead and put the nail in the coffin of our sports programs and turn off the lights on your way out.  The guy has never done a thing in his life that would qualify him for a job like this.  Retarded that he would even be considered.

I agree 100% also. Don't even need him close to the committee or we will end up with another ex coach who needs a big paycheck and can't find it anywhere else. I said when BS was named we would end up with mostly ex coaches off the old staff and it has come true. Don't need them anywhere else in the sports program. Sean doesn't deserve to even be interviewed. JMO

I don't think it's vacant yet, but it will be shortly.

Also heard some stories about ol Brair Hemmenway going screwy in the head and leaving ku in a real mess administratively.

would be sad if our AD/HC relationship would not pass most public school district's nepotism policy.

Hopefully we are not that much of a joke.  Please Christ tell me we are not that much of a joke. :-[

True, but is there anyone on that committee that can appreciate that Sean Snyder has no qualifications to be AD?  To the folks on that committee, I'm sure that All-American punter, 10+ years as director of FB operations, and son of Bill Snyder will seem like an impressive resume'.

PLEASE let that committee be nothing more than a rubber stamp.

Bro, c-merr is wicked smart.  I think he will understand that being an All-American punter and the son of Bill Snyder are definately not plusses in this search.

Unfortunately, an AA punter and son of bill snyder is better qualified to be AD than a "hard-working walk-on that gets good grades" is qualified to hire an AD.  And Merriweather is probably the most qualified on the committee, with the possible exception of Lockett.

Should I laugh or cry about all of this?

I'll go with cry.  Whatever happened to the president naming the AD?  What's this search committe BS?
I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

Any time schools put together a committee like this, they always add a student-athlete or two.  They have a unique perspective to add to the search.  Even so, this committee is not going to actually choose the next AD.  They will simply add another voice to the discussion.

It's a "search committee" . . . not a "hiring committee" . . . the new prez will actually make the hire.

But phogtard logic has already dictated that it's dumb to have the Faculty Senate President and the former President of the KSU Foundation, and the CEO of the Alumni Association on an AD search committee.

It's actually likely a good move by the new prez . . . because rumor is that Weefer isn't allowing the new prez to engage in any current athletic decisions.   So by proxy the new pres can get the ball rolling on the direction he wants to take before he actually gets installed as the new president.

But where's Mr. K-State, former AD Ernie Barrett? :skillz:

http://www.kstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=400&ATCLID=3682718

Retired!

Hell, that shouldn't stop him from serving on a committee. Nor should it have stopped them from asking him. He's the only person around with athletic administration experience. He's got at least a vague idea of what it takes to run big time college athletics. Plus, he'd know what K-Staters would accept and what they wouldn't - hopefully avoiding a Ron Prince-type fiasco. Seems like a bit of an oversight to me. Plus, he can be a bit intimidating - just what the process needs, in my opinion.

I vote for Big Ern to sit on the search committee!  :ksu:

I don't have a problem with it as long as this committee has no real function, but I would hate to have to rely on Amy Button Renz to be my "eyes and ears" if I were the new UP.  Seems that someone like Jim Epps could better serve that purpose.

Jim Epps is like having a lump of coal serve as your "eyes and ears".
