LOL, you realize that xp and vista have this built into the operating system, right?  It takes a tiny bit of work if you don't want to just use your ip address.

Have you heard of PCanywhere?  It sucks but this has been around before MS wised up and added it into the OS ala I.E.  see the trend?

duh bro.

Those programs (RDC, VNC, netmeeting, etc etc) have serious downfalls that this one doesn't have - If you have a dynamic IP, it could change and you wouldn't be able to connect.  If you have a router, you have to open ports or set up a DMZ.  If you're at work the corp likely has all ports blocked other than 80 and whicev email system they use, so you can't use anything other than browsers and email.  And many corp companies have auditing systems that prevent you from having software like that.  This one doesn't have those weaknesses, is customizable, and doesn't require the installation of any software on the remote PC because it's completely browser based.  No IP's, No DNS, no configuring, no installing(on the remote PC,) no opening ports, just opening the browser and logging in.

Only Vista ultimate, business and enterprise have remote desktop built in.

Xp has rdp built in by default, newb.

No, you can't have multiple sessions connected, similar to terminal services, but the basic functionality getting to another machine or allowing a machine to connect to xp has been there since the beginning.  I have used this feature forever....  :flush:

There's a work around that unlocks it for the others. Works like a charm.

no, WoW and other programs actually sense you are using a remote connection and deny you access to the game, to play a dvd, etc.  This is because it takes a TON of work and pipe to push images at 40 frames per second.  I don't know if it is even possible at this point...perhaps when everything is running on fiber.

LOL this from the guy who just argued it wasn't installed on xp. (never used xp home or any other lesser version of vista, why?  then I might as well get a mac if I want an OS that has 'walls')  :nahnah:

Just because they are grossly inaccurate. Do you work as an admin? I hope not!

OK, let me get this straight because I think your definition of grossly wrong is pretty liberal.

I stated that you can use rdp on xp (didn't specify variant), you call me out with a toilet saying it is only on vista variants.  Go read your own quote.

Now, if you are beefing me because I'm calling it rdp, rather than remote desktop or remote desktop connection then so be it.  I understand that rdp is talking about the protocol itself.  It is called rdp by generally everyone in IT because we, as humans, are lazy and don't want to speak additional syllables.  Sometimes people say, "Oh, are you going to mstsc?!" or "I'm going to remote in."  These are fairly common in the computer world and you should know this already.  Not everything has to be by the book as long as the other person understands what you are saying and in this case, you clearly did know what I was talking about.

I really don't understand your problem with me.  I try to give people the information they are looking for on this board.  I might dumb some things down a  bit, like my explanation of rdp, but most people aren't looking for the real definition either...they just want something fast and easy to remember.

Saul's right jackhole, in your earlier post you said XP and Vista both have it built in, which isn't totally accurate.

I wouldn't argue with Saul on computer stuff.   He literally gets PAID to surf the Net.   :nono:

Yeah, I know.  You didn't disconnect properly and I was in your computer and trying to hack into the FBI computers.
