UPDATE FROM IOWA

1) they eat a lot of cheese here. mostly curds.
2) they really like wrestling. highschool, college, etc. they televise it.
3) they all like kazzukats since most of them are hawkeye fans and liked snyder
4) it's really cold. feel like i'm in canada.
5) a lot of ugly people.

thoughts and pics from the game, etc. pics came out much worse then i was hoping for. only half look decent...

1) atmosphere in ames was horrible before game. like lincoln but much, much worse. a lot of places around hilton weren't open and the place we went to (some bar below the pizza pit) was less then stellar.

2) hilton and their fans were pretty bad. about 70% capacity. the only magic was the halftime show of these folks... http://www.metacafe.com/watch/200324/quick_change_artists/ . i had to lol very much at this as an isu fan who went to the game w/ us was all "ooooooh, i think this is "quick change" i really like them!"

really? quick change? you "like them?" hahahahahaha. anyway...crowd was very, very, very quiet.

3) whatever happened to DK (blood etc) caused the isu fans to boo him as he left the court. kinda odd. dunno if i've seen an injured player get booed before but 'grats to isu fans. i've heard rumors...but they really do boo better than we do 

4) concession thoughts...they have the weirdest single concession option i've ever seen (pics below of random isu fan muching away). it's called a "walking taco" and it is a medium sized "snack size" bag of doritos with the top half of the bag cut off. they then crunch the doritos up and pour taco meat, cheese, etc and sell it for five bucks. you eat it w/ a fork. franking weird.

also of note. the popcorn sucked ballz. also, depending on which concession place you bought the popcorn from...it was either three bucks or four bucks. same size, same everything, one dollar different. also pop was served in both the fountain and...get this....can variety (pic below). who still sells cans?

also, iowa loves hyvee almost as much as they love cheese curds and looking ugly. they had a couple of hyvee stands in hilton where you could get a hyvee sandwich, etc. weird.

Why are they called walking tacos?  They seem to be less mobile than a regular taco, IMHO.  Pretty sure the point of a taco is, in fact, it's ability to be eaten on the go...

I'm a walking taco virgin.  (Feel free to insert joke here:)  I just printed off a recipe for them.  Gonna try and make some while watching the games tonight.  Figured I'd pick up some beer that would go well with this fine dining concept.  Thinking maybe some PBR or Schlitz.
