I was at the Royals game last thursday when Greighnkie was pitching. We got our ass kicked. Why couldn't he pitch like this last Thursday!  :chainsaw:

Can't have a complete game every night or else his arm might fall off... plus it was our bullpen that killed us that night.

Didn't catch the pitch count tonight, but anybody else concerned with how many complete games he's throwing already this year?  When the guy's pitching well (which is every game he pitches), you hate to pull him but it's a long season and he may be getting over worked.  With Soria out, I know it may make the decision tougher.  Not trying to second guess Hillman here, just like to hear someone else's take on this. :royals:

117 for Greinke.

I was a bit surprised that he pitched the 9th.

Yup I'll admit I wasn't disappointed when they hired them because I actually knew the guy but yeah he hasn't done any better than the guy last year...

FYI, you may want to check out this weekday ticket deal if you plan on going to any games this summer.  Pretty incredible deal for some decent seats.

Yeah i agree. The only improvement is the number of walks. Which after thinking about, isn't always a good thing. I've noticed our offense passing on a lot of hittable pitches trying to draw a walk. It's nice to get a guy on base with a free pass, but i don't think it will help us in the long run.
I walk out of that tunnel in this building and the passion of our fans, just gets me going. I mean just gives me an adrenaline rush that you guys just don't understand. - Frank Martin

Yeah, I'm close personal friends with Steve Balboni.  He always told me not to take walks and instead hit a home run so I could round the bases at my own pace and not get tired out.  Seemed to work out pretty well since I'm such a stud baseball player who's never tired.

Its pretty much Grienke and Bannister pitching well and that's it.

Maybe if our 1st ace or whatever we consider Meche, could come out for once and pitch well then we could win 3 games with him, Grienke, and Banny.  But then again the bats have to come alive too, this is getting very annoying.

On PTI, during their "Over/Under" segment, they asked whether or not "The Donald" would have "Over/Under" a 2.00 ERA. Wilbon went Under while Kornheiser went Over.

I think Greinke will be right around 1.76 towards the end of the year.

Poor Zack, he typically has to beat two teams each time he pitches.

Anyone else find it ironic that this downfall pretty much began when Soria got hurt? Maybe Soria means more to this team than anyone thinks...

QFT.

Wright has been over exposed, Cruz pitching out of "position" etc. the pen is being ask to do things they were not setup to do at the beginning of the year.

not that it would matter at all IMO but do people remember Alex Gordon at all... QuinnMac do you?

Or take a short, non-physically taxing walk back to the dugout after striking out. :ugh:

Yeah, this has been a pretty big deal.  Messing up the order of guys in the bullpen hasn't been good and has probably cost the Royals at least 3 games in this bad stretch.

If they have any hope at all of contending, they have several things to get fixed.  Getting Soria back would be one, but to go along with that they've got to stop with the errors and stupid fielding that leads to guys getting extra bases.  Offensively they've got to get some guys to start hitting that aren't, plus quit being stupid in their baserunning decisions.  I highly doubt both will happen, but if they can at least improve in one area they probably have a shot to finish .500.  They simply have too many issues and not enough talent to compete with Detroit for the long haul.  Greinke can only do so much.

Forgot to mention when I was at the game a week from yesterday (when Greinke was pitching) I sat right above the  :royals: bullpen and watched Greinke warm up. When he was done he threw the ball right at me. Instead of catching it like a normal baseball fan in attendance, I allowed it to go right by me because I thought some eager kid was gonna catch it and make his day. Instead some dude older than my grandma caught it  :banghead:

Soria is coming back for the road trip to Tampa Bay, Toronto and Cleveland that starts on Tuesday. These last two games with the Sox are important to get us rolling and get us some momentum going into that trip.
