Ross Gload would get beat out by my grandmother if she played for the Royals. Mike Jacobs at first, Billy Butler at DH. Boom! Roasted.

Right-hander Brian Bannister and the Kansas City agreed Wednesday to a one-year contract worth $1,737,500 and avoided a salary arbitration hearing.

Gload not sucking for one play.

The best I can do is the link. and directions.

Search 'gload' under videos.

Go to the 4th page (of 5)

Top row, 5th one from the left.

Let's at least see how the first half goes until you blow up over losing Leo.

Dude is an arm injury waiting to happen.

QFT. I wasn't a big fan of the trade at first, but it was a good move. Any power Jacobs gives us at first is more than we had the past couple seasons. I wouldn't be surprised if Butler started the year in Omaha with Kila. Shealy and Jacobs would rotate DH/1B.

Who will play 2B, though? I like Callaspo more than Bloomquist as an everyday guy(Really wanted Dayton to make a push for Hudson). There were grumblings that Teahen could learn 2B during spring training. I think we're a big bat and a real 3rd starter short of being a contender this year.

He is a Type A free agent, was never going to happen.
Sheets is still out there, he is much more than a 3rd starter imo.

And Sheets has also now elected to have surgery and will be out until at least July.  This is why I run fantasy teams not real ones.

lmao that he was the big pickup when we were in the playoff hunt that one year five years ago. loved the guy and all but still kinda lol ya know.

OT: does anyone else remember the first year they rolled out the royals network. again about five years ago. they had absolutely nobody willing to advertise during those games and every other commercial was for a Don Williams greatest hits cd. "Hi I'm Don Williams and we had a great time putting this cd together for you.....living on tulsa time dodo do dodo "

4. Shealy
5. Gload

I love BB but he is not better than Jacobs. He may be better at hitting for contact but thats it.

1. Jacobs.
2. Butler
3. KK (just because of his hitting, no idea about his fielding)
4. Shealy (goodness he is awful at running the bases, but he did have a hell of a good last month)
5. Gload =  :cyclist:

I agree that Jacobs is better right now.  But we should have Butler in there consistently so he can continue to improve.  That's why I put him at 1 over Jacobs, although they are interchangeable at DH/1B.  BB has slimmed down some this offseason, so that should help.

I actually have a buddy that uses Gload in place of the word crap.  Not that it's any reflection of his play, it's just that dropping a gload sounds hilarious.

Billy should spend a couple months in AAA learning to play 1B. Use Shealy and Jacobs to start the season. If Shealy ends up being a bust, we can finally drop him and call up Butler.

No.  There's nothing more Butler can do in the minors.  KK will start in the minors for sure.  If Shealy has a good spring, he may make the club, but my guess is he'd more likely be dealt for a low prospect.

I think sending Butler down for a few months is good for a few reasons. He still has options, plus he can get more time at 1B. He's only 22, so it's not a now or never thing with him. Shealy is 30 and out of options. We should show him off at the MLB level in hopes of finding a trade partner for him. KK will probably spend the year in AAA and possibly show up in KC during the September call ups.

Are we talking financial matters?  I won't pretend to know what these guys' contracts mean in the scheme of things, but...BB has already shown everything he needs to at the plate.  No point in sending him to Omaha to "learn" how to play first.  The guy is a professional hitter, not a glovesman.  Get used to it.  Shealy is a decent fill-in, nothing more.  Jacobs is a legit 40/100 dude, with a big contract, he'll definitely be the Royal's 1B for the next few. And KK is a converted C, in the middle of getting fist&@#%ed because of the Jacobs signing and the logjam that already existed at 1B/DH.  All in all, having too much talent is not a bad problem to have; bit of a change of pace for Royal's fans.  That said, BB gets the nod at DH for the start of the season, and KK gets the middle of the season call up.  (unless KK does what he did at the end of last year (AAA) during spring training, then reverse those two.)
