http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/computersecurity/2009-01-26-internet-worm_N.htm

The world's top virus hunters are watching every move made by the attacker in control of a nasty new Internet worm — referred to as "downadup" or "conficker."

..

The worm takes advantage of a security hole that exists on hundreds of millions of Windows PCs. Microsoft issued an emergency patch for the hole in October. Because most Windows PCs connected to the Internet were vulnerable without the patch, the security community went on high alert.

The difference being that 'MOST' PC users are smart enough to run virus software, where as 'MOST' MAC users seem to think that no harm can ever come to their computer, virus or otherwise.

I can guarantee you that nobody is spamming from my mac.  My PC on the other hand... probably has been spamming since last July with reckless abandon.  No I don't pay for anti-virus software, and my computer is too slow to bother messing with it anyway.

You realize you can get anti-virus programs for PC for free right?  They work really well too.

AVG, AVAST to name a couple.  It sounds like you are either a) lazy or b) a dumbass or c) both.  Congrats on being part of the problem.

the potential harm is mitigated by the potential risk.  and linking a blog about users who decide to pirate software and end up getting a virus? really?  that's great dr00d, you sure have shown us.

pc fanboy, osx fanboy, you're all the same   :flush:

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

That is hilarious, the MAC fanboys are in extreme denial mode, calling the author a liar

How do you think viruses get installed?  You can't get a virus w/o downloading an infected file, email, or visiting a website that tries to get you to install something

There's a new sheriff in town.
Macs are cooler anyways.

(that's where this thread was headed, just thought I'd give it a running start.)
