Way better than I expected.  I actually managed to get over the casting of Tom Cruise, who did a decent job.  To be fair he physically resembles the historical figure pretty well.

The history major in me was very impressed.  Also, any time you can manufacture suspense out of a foregone conclusion, you are doing something right.

Having done a major paper on this event in school, I look forward to seeing it, regardless of the reviews.

Also looking forward to "Defiance," opening January 16.

The History channel had a piece on this yesterday.  It was pretty interesting.  I sat and watched a piece on the French Revolution before that and was equally enthralled.  The History Channel =

The sad thing is that I always think I'll be able to use some of that information at my next work function or party and look kind of intellectual but then can't remember a damn thing about it the very next day. :crybaby:
Here's hoping that Clams is chillin' with someone cool up in that big EMAW in the sky. RIP Clams, RIP.

I would, if Tom Cruise wasn't in it. :flush:

    I'm with Coco.
It looks like one of those flicks where they show the whole movie in the previews.

So the this random person I was sitting by apparently didn't know that Hitler doesn't die during the explosion. When Hitler's was addressing the nation on his radio address, he was all like "THIS IS BULL HE IS DEAD!!"

This whole movie kinda reminded me of the coaching search.

I have never been excited about historical movies that I know the ending.

I mean, really...Pearl Harbor?  wtf?  Titanic?  Armageddon?  Up yours, Bruce Willis.

I heard his accent was pretty bad though. That'd be pretty hard to put up with Tom Cruise with a bad accent for 150 minutes.

I actually want to see it though, so here's to me making it to the theater in the next couple of days. :beerchug:

He screams American.  But to be fair the British guys are using British accents, so I guess it all works out.  I never bought fake foreign accents in movies by guys who are speaking the wrong language anyway.

I sort of like it Mel Gibson style, you know, two hours of subtitles.

I'm the same way. I'd gladly take realism.

I liked the movie and I'm not a war history buff I do follow WWII history pretty closely. Close enough that my sister and mother decided to ask me about 100 questions during the show as if I knew every little detail about the best assassination attempt on Hitler. I don't. I know the general ideas about it but not the details about how Hitler signed Operation Valkyrie himself without reading the whole document. Didn't know he did that.

They did do a good job of showing the complete state of denial that Hitler was in after the Normandy invasion. Dude was beyond insane at that point.

Yeah, the Majestic.  Like that sh*tty Jim Carrey movie.  Guess I was t.o'd because I spent so much money and she kept herself closed tighter than fort knox.

Is the Seqoyah 9 still 9, or have they expanded?  Thought about going to watch a movie while I was in the 'slums last week, but went to phou ha instead.   :lick:
