Wetmore - Corning - Goff - Centralia - Duluth - Vermillion - Powhatten

Take your pick.

This thread wins the wintersourk most disappointing award.  It seems like a good subject based on the title, but almost all of the posts are f*cking garbage.

These towns could win the trophy of "Towns that are full of people who go shopping at the Walmart in Holton " or "Towns full of people that go to Seneca and get drunk at Spankys". Nothing really weird about them imo.

I think that the open sewer system in Centralia is worthy of note.  It's odd, too, that all the people that live/work/school is these towns WISH they could go to Jackson Heights.

St. Mary's gets my vote for weirdest.  The town definitely has a confrontational aura around it.  Like that voice in haunted houses that says "get! out!"  If an actual armed civil war between catholic factions broke out in St. Marys I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

While we're on the US-24 corridor, I'm surprised Wamego hasn't gotten any votes.  Wizard of Oz crap, downtown, windmill.  Wambingo also has some sort of shop-local gestapo.  They run ads on TV constantly to "encourage" people to shop in the Wam and not drive to evil Manhattan or T-Town.

I doubt that anyone in Centralia is wishing they could go to Jackson Hts.

People in Goff are prolly just wishing they could go to school.  Man that town is depressing.

Wetmore, Powhattan, Corning, Soldier, et al. aren't any weirder than other little Kansas dumps.  Almost no difference in weirdness quotient between those towns and Summerfield, Bendena, Lillis, and Westmoreland, fwiw.

QFT.  Lillis is def. cool.  Grew up not far from there, actually.  Just saying Corning (also cool) is no weirder than Lillis.  It's all about weirdness in this thread.  Maybe someone should start a "coolest towns in Kansas with population <300" thread.

Hanover is also cool, fwiw.

Beattie is also weird.  Not on the same level as St. Mary's, but still weird.  Hostile catholic sects>>>Milo Festival.

Agreed. If you are going to name a weird town, there has to be a reason given. Towns aren't weird just because they are small.

"WOW, there is a grain elevator a store and a school, that's weird!"  :users:

They also like to tout "Exactly halfway between KC and Denver."  Not sure why.  They should just post a sign up that says "More middle of nowhere than anywhere else"

seriously if you've been to Kirwin, KS then you are probably lieing.

Gotta admit that there is some great KS small town lunch buffet restaraunts.  Norton has one, Ness City has a good one. There's another one that I'm thinking of in NC KS but can't remember the town.  Just make sure you bring cash.  My fav is the restaraunt at the sale barn in Plainville. Great BF and Lunch. Not sure it's open for dinner.  Prob not, no alcohol served.

I'm from a small town close to Downs, those people are hardly nice.
