You can't be racist and like basketball.

Tyler Hansbrough could have gone to the NBA after his freshman season, his sophomore campaign and after last year.

Instead, he elected to return to North Carolina to finish out his four-year career with what he hopes will be a national title.

Hansbrough is as deserving as anyone to be the Tar Heels all-time leading scorer – a distinction he attained with 7:41 remaining in the first half against Evansville on Thursday night when his basket moved him ahead of Phil Ford.

He’s a college basketball player in the truest sense of the word.

In an era in which guys want and need instant gratification and are always complaining, Hansbrough just goes about his business. Does he flail his arms and get plenty of calls?  Sure.

But that’s the reality with star players. He’s earned the respect with his intensity and hard work. There are probably a hundred players in college basketball with more ability than Psycho T, but few – if any – are able to match his work ethic.

Hansbrough doesn’t care about the fanfare, doesn’t get caught up in numbers and is a bottom-line guy whose only focus is winning.

His effort - and production - are consistent. There's not too many guys these days you can say that about.

No one has scored more points than Hansbrough for a program that has as much tradition as nearly any in the history of college basketball. Hansbrough also has a chance to become the all-time leading rebounder in school history and also break J.J. Redick’s scoring mark as the ACC’s all-time leading scorer.

Will he be a great NBA player?  Will he even be a lottery pick?

Who cares. He was – and still is – terrific for the college game.

The idea that f*cking white people aren't talented and/or work harder is f*cking bullsh*t.  No way are there 100 players in the NCAA with more ability than Hansbrough, and there is now way he outworks everyone.

Just absurd racism.

They did a feature about him during halftime of the Kentucky game, and showed a shot of him sitting in a metal hot tub wearing his jersey. Seemed strange.

But Rusty, did you watch him play tonight?  Every time he had the ball he seemingly got destroyed by an Evansville player.  Blocked, stripped, knocked down, he was easily the least athletic person on the court.

Also I remember early in the game he goes up for a block, and gets like 2 inches off of the floor, not even close to the ball.

I agree though, his "hardest working player ever" bullsh*t is getting tiresome, and it is only used because he is white.

But remember, white people had slaves, so it is ok to be racist against them.

It's racist against blacks, too.  You NEVER hear about a hard-working black player.  EVER.

Yes, and its compounded by playing at NC.  And it proves that if someone keeps saying something enough, lots of people will believe it.  It is getting old that the pinnacle of college basketball is about some pretty talented white kid that plays really hard.

there certainly is something unique about TH.  he does work hard, and he isn't the most athletic kid on the floor.  whatever you want to call it and however you want to rationalize it, what he's accomplished at UNC is pretty incred.
imo, Goody is just trying to give TH props.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

most ksu fans still think our own tyler x had no talent.   :dunno:

95% of people have no idea what constitutes bball talent and/or can't judge it.  so they latch onto stereotypes in an assbackwards attempt to not look stupid.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

TH is athletic, strong, tough, hardworking, he just doesn't have bball skills (jumper, outside game, gets tons of calls etc).

Of course Goodman also misses in saying Hansborough could've gone to the NBA after his frosh, his soph and his jr seasons.  Look, the guy is a very good college player, plays hard (like many do), knows how to play and use the skills he has (his best attribute) and gets waaay too many calls.  That being said, he would not have been a high draft pick in any of those years and likely has a decently long but very marginal bench career in the NBA awaiting him.  At each step in the progression, high school to college, college to NBA, the physical talent required just to get on the court steps up immensely.  Hansborough is very successful at this level but everyone knows that next step up in athleticism will dwarf the skills he has and uses well to hide his deficiencies in those areas.  He is a fine college player but is not going to be a good NBA player, that's why he's stayed at UNC...not for the put him up on a pedestal reasons that Goodman would have us believe.

Thank you.  If Hansblow plays anyone with talent he gets absolutely destroyed.

His shot is so ugly, and any good player will bock it, he can't jump, can't block shots

Hell be good at the next level as a set shot type player and will get a couple of hustle boards. Prolly average around close to 8 ppg and 6 rpg. I am not a fan of Hans but they don't play d in the nba and he has a good shot from the elbow. I am surprised he has not been punched in the face yet.

his whole deal is flop for the call and fill-in the stats at the free-throw line... don't think that's going to work too well for him at the next level

Ok a little exaggerated but i have seen multiple times where players don't even leave their feet for a jumpshot. That's not a good thing.
