Of course Goodman also misses in saying Hansborough could've gone to the NBA after his frosh, his soph and his jr seasons. Look, the guy is a very good college player, plays hard (like many do), knows how to play and use the skills he has (his best attribute) and gets waaay too many calls. That being said, he would not have been a high draft pick in any of those years and likely has a decently long but very marginal bench career in the NBA awaiting him. At each step in the progression, high school to college, college to NBA, the physical talent required just to get on the court steps up immensely. Hansborough is very successful at this level but everyone knows that next step up in athleticism will dwarf the skills he has and uses well to hide his deficiencies in those areas. He is a fine college player but is not going to be a good NBA player, that's why he's stayed at UNC...not for the put him up on a pedestal reasons that Goodman would have us believe.
