i'm sure i don't have to point out who the last rock-solid lock-down defense was that held ou under 60pts  of course they had 55 on us at half and put the machine into 'mercy shut-down' status

Lol, Florida's second team defense is probably better then those teams that failed to hold OU under 60 points.

Gators win big. OU isn't that good. The only team that they played that had a pulse beat them by ten.

OU has also given up almost 30 points a game during that five game stretch where they have scored 60+ points (and that even an improvement from what they were like in the middle of the season).

Florida will make easy work of the Sooner defense while the Florida defense will be a real challenge for the OU offense.

Wow, this Florida team sounds like the greatest team of all time.  Surely they are undefeated and didn't lose to an unranked team at all during this dominant run.

No they aren't the best team ever. But they are the best team this year.

Let's look at their games. Miami they gave up 10 points, Tennesee they gave up 6 points, LSU they gave up 21, Kentucky they gave up 5 points, Georgia they gave up 10 points, Vanderbilt they gave up 14, FSU they gave up 15

Now lets see how many points they scored in those games. Miami they scored 26 points, Tennessee they scored 30 points, LSU they scored 51 points, Kenucky they scored 63, Georgia they scored 49, Vanderbilt they scored 42, FSU they scored 45.

Good defense beats good offense.

And should we link to the hundreds of times that great defense has beaten great offense. Will OU get lucky and their good offense will be able to beat Florida's good defense. Not likely, because OU has a great recruiter not a great head coach.

    I think therefore I think I'm hungry
I think that I'm also picking Florida in this game. To me, the game breaks down as follows: OU has an excellent offense and a suspect defense, UF has a pretty decent offense and a very good defense. So it appears to be a strength versus strength game, but Florida has a "kicker." (I mean kicker in poker terms here) Also, lets not forget that Stoopsie has had more than a little trouble winning the big game lately.

Oh, also...Stoops eats Poops. :flush:

OK so, he was Big Game Bob and now he can't win the big one?  OU has a very good, multifaceted offense and their O-Line has done a very good job.  If UF can get significant pressue, well that's something Bradford hasn't faced much of this season so that could make the game very interesting.  Otherwise, I think OU's defense will show up better against UF's offense than many here think they will.  Sets up as a pretty nice game...unless UT maintains their spot in the BCS and plays OU in a rematch....I would laugh at all the east-coasters up in arms about the BCS then....or, UT will only have one loss and will not get to go to the Big 12 title game or the BCS championship and I will laugh at all the Texas people up in arms...either way, it should be good entertainment.  I never really cared for the BCS but maybe this approach is the way to view it.   :hahano:

Stoops relies on his recruiting abilities. He gets into trouble if he tries to rely on his coaching abilities. He would make a terrible terrible terrible mistake if he ever tried to coach at the nfl level.

It's not so much big games as it is more along the lines of teams with just as much talent as he has. OU can out talent 95% of teams out there. It is when they face that small percentage of teams that do have just as much talent as the Sooners do that Stoops gets into trouble.

isn't that pretty much how every team is?
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Yes and that is what separates the good or great coaches from the good or great recruiters in college football. When your team can't out talent the other team but your coach can out coach the other coach.

I don't think Bob Stoops has ever been real successful when he has had to rely on his coaching abilities.

In '99 they only finished 7-5. In '2000 they were running an offense that was still fairly new to most folks and they were figuring out how to adjust to it. Once teams adjusted to OU's offensive style how has OU faired against equally talented teams?

I think OU pulls it out because Florida hasn't seen an offense like they are going to see.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.
i may be way off but i am thinking both teams have both good offense and good defense.
