Could be a sign about Mayo and/or Reed?  Sounds like there's an offer out the for him and its just a matter of him choosing the Cats.

Also, it does look like Huggins is making PG a priority and keeping his bases covered.  Definately going after Mayo and Reed, now it looks like we're after this guy hard, plus still looking at Gonzalez who plays for the Miami Tropics.

The 27th best shooting guard?  And a SG at 6' 0"?  What is he going to take a step ladder on the court with him to get open shots?  And his big weakness is that he can't handle the ball very well?  You have got to be kidding me...

Tyree Evans is ten times the player this kid is.

IMO, Pullen or Gonzolez are the "long range" targets at PG, kids who should be here 4 years.  Reed probably in that category as well.  Mayo is a 1 and done player.  It would seem the plan is to sign two PGs for this reason.

Pullen:

Got to give the kid credit, he's got cornrows.
Cornrows generally translate into criminal behavior, perhaps he's trying to send Huggy the ultimate silent commit, aka the Subliminal Commit ?

(Shhssh)....(MCMW)....(Huggy I will commit)....(Shhsshh)....(MCMW).

Yes, we do need point guards.  But Pullen couldn't be able to play PG.  He is a #2 guard without good ball skills.  We already have better than that coming back this year!

You have to sign high octane players that can compete at the level you want to play at.  We want to be at the top of the B12.  Well, do you think Kansas or Texas would sign this guy?  This has to be a ploy to put some pressure on Reed, Mayo, etc to step up and commit.

Maybe a "first to commit gets the scholarship" situation?

Yeah, I'm sure Huggins would threaten to offer Mayo's scholarship to someone else to get him to "step up and commit".

Pullen is an interesting prospect.  One of rival's updates from this summer said high-major coaches either love him or think he has no shot to be a high-major player.  Huggins must see something in him b/c the update made it sound like we were recruiting him pretty hard.

I think it might be a ploy to get him or Gonzalez to commit, I don't think this has anything to do with Mayo or Reed.

he could always bump kennedy's offer off the table.  i wouldn't mind 3 pts in this class.  especially since reed/thornton/mayo could all happily run at the 2.

Kennedy sounds like Huggins' kind of player.  I think Thornton is the back-up plan at 2G and I think Kennedy is the target.  I'm sure we'd take both if it would fit, but if Walker is coming one 2G may be all we want in this class.

pullen hates snart.

one thing he does know is that he is a point guard. "I'm not a combo guard. That's one thing I'm not. I'm 6-foot, it's impossible for me to be a combo guard. I'm a point guard who can score when he wants to. Sometimes I just have to score. In Indiana I was forced to score because we couldn't get anything else out of our offense, so I just had to put some points on the board. Then there are other games where I have like 10 points and 16 assists, so I do what's necessary. I hate when people call me a shooting guard or a combo guard, I'm not a combo guard I'm a point guard."

i think thornton is the backup for mayo.  a 2 yr player ready to play right now.  i think he is more of a pt than a 2, but he is definately a combo guard.

Well, I don't hate Pullen.  Honest.  I have nothing against the kid.  Before today I had never heard of him!  He just upsets a lot of stuff that I had hoped for, but since Huggins is intensely recruiting him, I guess maybe that "stuff" would not had happened anyway. Pullen replaces Kennedy – another 3 star shooting guard recruit with more size but maybe a lesser outside shot.  But if Kennedy doesn’t come to K-State, then we don’t get his best friend Blair either because they are a package deal.  And I think that losing Blair would be a huge loss for this program.  Blair is a VERY solid 3 or 4 year player that will dominate at the power forward position.  But hey, Huggins didn’t ask me for my advice, and I doubt if he will in the future either...

yeah, i kind of agree with you.  i like thornton more than pullen or kennedy.  but it looks like both have offers and thornton doesn't.  i'm fine with taking kennedy if that is the only way we get blair.  i really like blair too.  but kennedy on his own merits doesn't excite me much.

Yes, Kennedy seems to still be raw, but he does have a nice package of size, skills, and strength that could develop into a very nice player.  He can handle the ball to a degree, he can also shoot the ball fairly well, he can slash and drive to the basket, and he can lock up a defender.  Is he ready for Div-1 ball?  I don’t think so.  But he is a solid 3rd or 4th year starter though.  He kind of reminds me of Leonard Stokes, a past player for UC at the 2/3 position.  It took Stokes a long time to mature and develop, but ended up being a very nice player.  But only time will tell what any of these players can contribute.  If I only had crystal balls...

Mayo, Walker, and Beasley for 1 year is as close to a guaranteed championship as you can get.

Another thing, not every player has to be a superstar. You gotta have role players like Pullen and Kennedy if you want to win championships. We would need a shooter, and that is what Pullen does best.
