I'm just jealous.  We don't have any parents of band members going bonkers on this board.  Would be much more fun if we did, IMO.

I was thinking about what an interesting home field environment we could make if everything was totally silent.

Just a clicking of a clock from the scoreboard and the entire crowd just staring at the field.

Would freak me out....

Total silence is still very far away from the "non-noisiness" I heard at the Bill.

Plus we had announcements and Jumbotron action.

But I will take up the pro-band gauntlet to move the convo along.

The KSU band is severely underfunded with respect to other BCS schools.

I think we should just have DJs.  We could be constantly playing music and what not.  Would be a bagillion times better than a band.

    The very best.
just use a boom-box to play fight songs. we do it over christmas break @ the bram.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I always thought that was because the band was away at bowl games.  You know, when we used to go to bowl games.  Jesus, being a student these days must suck.

lol @ this thread. k-state would be the big XII joke without a marching band. the marching band are the only students that stay the entire game AND cheer all game. can't say that about any other group of people at k-state. can you really imagine college football without a marching band?

Would it be cost effective to hire the visiting team's bands to come and play our songs?

And easy.  You only have to teach them one song.  Just play it over and over.

At the CBE Classic in KC, they just hire high school bands.

$146,000 per year for our band

$146,000 / 7 = 20857.14 approx.

I think we could hire a decent band for saturdays.

They could pass out kazoos (since we are kazzu) and the crowd can just start wabashing the hell out of themselves whenever they feel like it.

Would probably sound better than the band, anyway.

At the Fiesta Bowl, Ohio State comes out with this big, huge band. Then our puny band comes out and every body is all like LOL.

FYI our band has 330 members. Ohio State's has 225. (I was curious so I googled it) I'm guessing you weren't there.  :scared: :ksu:

Most people assume big huge as in numbers. Ohio State is known as the best damn band in the land for a reason, you know.

Our band is no slough, have you ever heard other big 12 schools? Only Texas and Nebraska (sound-wise) and Texas Tech (overall)are of equal talent.
