Still waiting for one of the Phlocktards to tell me which team ku beat this year that we wouldn't have beaten in '04 or '05.  But, but, but... this program is so improved!

I don’t see what is wrong with Mangino.  It’s the schedule.   When you play 3 top 5 teams (OU, UT, TT) it’s kind of tough.  He’s competing in the North and taking ku to a bowl game for the consecutive years for the first time in ever.   Next year will be the same, but if he manages to get to a bowl again, then he starts (albeit with a new QB) that easier south schedule and it’s not like the North is anything rough.  He's the only coach in the North to make it to a BCS bowl as a head coach and assistant.  That' ain't bad.

If the schedule is responsible for the crummy record this year -- then the schedule is equally responsible for the good record last year.  At the end of the year, Mangino will be 1-12 against Top 20 teams lifetime.  But, he has raised ku to the level where they beat teams ranked 21-40 fairly consistently, and that is an improvement over the prior coach (although not as good as Glen Mason's best years).  Still, he's overpaid for a coach of that ability.

Color me stupid about football, but until we consistently get four (with an occasional five) little twinklie things next to inbound ku recruits, I think we're going to have off/on years. When we can recruit like OU, UT and Nubb, we'll beat them more more often. And, on the road.
