Halftime:
KSU leads 36-24.
It's been a slopppppppy game on both sides. A ton of fouls called and unfortunately, not a ton of makes from the free throw line for either team. Pullen is the leading scorer with 10, but didn't play a ton down the stretch. Not sure why.
Not a great opener for Clemente. 2 Fouls and something like 3 or 4 turnovers to this point. It's been big man by committee thus far and I would expect it to be the same for most of the season. Luis has been been surprisingly solid, tabbig 6 rebounds and 6 points in the first half.
No newcomers so far have seen the court. Starters were: Colon, Sutton, Anderson, Pullen, Clemente.
Their is no doubt (no pun intended) that this team's strength is defense. They really get after it on that end and have some length to disrupt shots and passes. But early on, this offense will surely struggle. Not a lot of dribble drive so far, which I expected to be a strength to open up the outside, and therefore it's been a lot of swing passes and looking for something down low even though nothing is there.
K-State: 36 points, 33 rebounds, 15 turnovers, 5 steals, 15 personal fouls
Washburn: 24 points, 16 rebounds, 10 turnovers, 8 steals, 18 personal fouls
we shall see what the second half holds. hopefully more buckets and less turnovers from the Cats.
In other news.....press row has been somewhat tense between the PI crew and Mark Jansen after the Mercury reporter's most recent article today. Interesting to say the least.
