I'm here courtside for the game this afternoon against Washburn. Hopefully I can be back at halftime to give another update, but here's what I've got so far...

26 minutes before gametime right now and this crowd is looking bleak. More than ever in the student section. we've got probably 3 sections of students and they only go up about 8 rows. Take what you want, it is only an exhibition, but still, YIKES.
Washburn looks fairly athletic from warmups. Very few true bigs though. Could be a decent day in the paint for the Cats.
Abdul and Downing are in street clothes, along with Kelly of course. Nique looked about the same as always in warmups- not a lot of makes. Samuels was impressing the crowd with dunks. Didn't see Brown miss a shot. And lastly, Denis Clemente can flat out shoot too. Can't wait to see more from him today.

If you aren't here, get here! otherwise, go cats!

    The very best.
tickets are thirty bucks. OMFG.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Halftime:
KSU leads 36-24.

It's been a slopppppppy game on both sides. A ton of fouls called and unfortunately, not a ton of makes from the free throw line for either team. Pullen is the leading scorer with 10, but didn't play a ton down the stretch. Not sure why.
Not a great opener for Clemente. 2 Fouls and something like 3 or 4 turnovers to this point. It's been big man by committee thus far and I would expect it to be the same for most of the season. Luis has been been surprisingly solid, tabbig 6 rebounds and 6 points in the first half.
No newcomers so far have seen the court. Starters were: Colon, Sutton, Anderson, Pullen, Clemente.
Their is no doubt (no pun intended) that this team's strength is defense. They really get after it on that end and have some length to disrupt shots and passes. But early on, this offense will surely struggle. Not a lot of dribble drive so far, which I expected to be a strength to open up the outside, and therefore it's been a lot of swing passes and looking for something down low even though nothing is there.

K-State: 36 points, 33 rebounds, 15 turnovers, 5 steals, 15 personal fouls
Washburn: 24 points, 16 rebounds, 10 turnovers, 8 steals, 18 personal fouls

we shall see what the second half holds. hopefully more buckets and less turnovers from the Cats.

In other news.....press row has been somewhat tense between the PI crew and Mark Jansen after the Mercury reporter's most recent article today. Interesting to say the least.

Did FITZ's fat neck even show up at the game?

I like how he kept calling it Rivals rather than putting Fitz's name out there.  It will put a lot of pressure on Rivals to put some on Fitz.

Mark Janssen is a joke anyway.  He is more pissed about the success experienced by gpc then anything else.  The mercury is laughable.

They played the first half like an exhibition game. Frank must have laid into them at half because the second half was way better. Sutton and Pullen were really good. Clemente and Samuels looked like they had first game gitters, both got better in the second half. ( except jamar's FT :yuck:) Colon is lighter and quicker but still awkward with stone hands. Awaji must have been in the dog house because he rarely saw the floor. Kent played real well. Brown still sucks but overall pretty much what you would expect from an exhibition game. Oh and the refs were horrible both ways. i mean really bad.

I had a nice little run in with Fitz before the game.  As he walked past the student section I yelled "It's Patterson," he abruptly turned around and approached me and my friends.  He said, "That's what I like about you guys, you don't say anything until my back is turned.  I was right, just wait, I was right."  I couldn't stop laughing.

I never really had a problem w/ fitz even after the story, but that's gay.  He should brush that off.  He is now dead to me.

and he'll be an even bigger piece of sh*t if patterson by some miracle ends up the coach.  the only thing saving his huge fat ass is that Snyder is the "back up plan" and this will placate the mentally retarded fans on gpc.

he should just stfu and take his medicine.  the fact that he doesn't know he deserves everything he's gotten or will get is incredible.  he's lucky the students didn't throw feces at him.

When they asked who did it did he say, "It's Patterson!"  Because that would be gold.
