Old Chicago - good pizza IMO.  Beer, and lots of it.  Currently on beer #38 in the World Beer Tour.  I get a bottle opener at #40.
Los Potrillos - decent mexican food, and cheap (inexpensive)
Pita Pit - love the falafel & babaganoush. Open till 4 am!
Planet Sub - Legendary sandwich chain.
Hunams - like the mongolian BBQ.
Little Apple Brewery - Not bad. Kinda pricey, decent beer. I wouldn't go there alot.
Royal Thai - Awesome thai food.  Pad Thai is my favorite, along with pineapple fried rice.
Early Edition - good breakfast.  Haven't tried lunch or dinner.

I haven't really tried any of the "bar" food really.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
El Caz - I'm not even giving the Amarillo Grill the time of day.  I haven't found a sit-down Mexican place in KC that compares to the Caz.
So Long - Duh
Cox Bros. - WTF happened to it?
Little Grill - Natty in a can.
Harry's - I used to live upstairs

When I get to Manhattan I usually rotate between those.

Amarillo Grill is no longer there.  Los Potrillos (mexican place I mentioned) is in its building now.

Cox Bros is alright I guess, but i'm a die hard Bryants fan..doesn't compare IMO.

Haven't tried Harrys yet.

No crap, sherlock.

I really think AB's is overrated.  Cox Bros. doesn't compare to Gates, though.

Harry's is $$$$$.

I forgot to mention Four Olives - probably the classiest restaurant in the least classy strip mall in history.  I've had a great experience everytime I've been there..

Just what i'm used to I guess.  I love the sauce - and the fries.

Gates is good too.  Jack Stack is good but it's expensive.  Oklahoma Joes is pretty good too.

Rudy's Tenampa Taqueria blows El Caz away. BLOWS.

I've only eaten at Cox Brothers a couple of times and it shouldn't even be mentioned with the likes of Oklahoma Joes, Fiorella's, LC's, etc. Only plus was they had some really good blues band there once. I too am not a huge fan of AB's. You can't beat Harry's in Manhattan. I frequent So Long most often though. Never eaten at Los Potrillos and probably never will. I've been wanting to go to Four Olives and never made it.

Been there, and you're wrong.  The closest to being as good as the Caz is Taquiera Mexico.  Pancho's is just as good, but it's completely different.

I agree, but it's not bad.

Four Olives is a little pricey, but very reasonable for the quality of food and service.

Gold Fork.

 :D

Seriously, though...I usually ate at fast food places in Manhattan, for the most part.  I ate at El Caz a few times, though.  Strouds, when it was in town.  Those chains down at the Mall.  And lots of Bob's Diner and Gumby's late at night.

My old girlfriend was a good place to eat way back when.

Don't know if anyone's eating there now.

Cox Bros was bought by the guy who owned Smith's Cafe, Grizzlies, etc.  He is very good at starting restaurants then selling them for profit.  It was never really high on my list.

I like Little Apple, but you've got to pay.  Great steaks and really the only Prime in town.  30 minute drive to Puffies for another good steak place.

I like Kites, Willies, and So Long; good mix of different bar foods.

Grizzlies is a nice place with a "small town cafe" feel.

Famous Daves is the best chain place IMO.  Old Chicago is alright.

Smith's and Early Edition both have great breakfast.

I'll have to try 4 Olives, never been there yet.

For really, really, really good Chinese, head east on Highway 24 to Silver Lake.  It's only open on Friday/Saturday nights, though.

So Long's -- the Resist Temptation is one of the best burgers I've ever had.
El Caz -- the food is made by authentic illegal Mexicans, so you know it's good; plus, they don't skimp on the margaritas.
Old Chicago -- excellent selection of beer and the food is good enough to not ruin the beer.
Valentino's -- only been there for the lunch buffet, but that was pretty good.
Little Apple -- what's already been said about it.

Gold Fork really isn't that bad. Wide selection of food, at any rate. $2.50 Long Island Fridays are a good time in the summer out on the deck.

I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

Mmm...I forgot about Little Apple.  Good stuff.  I remember one time I stopped in there before I went to see a movie at Westloop (does that date me at all?) and had two stouts...about a half-hour into the movie, I had to piss like none other.

Also, I used to eat at 12th Street all the time before it turned into Kite's.

Goldbrick, have you ever been to Kansas City and tried some of their local joints?

Famous Daves has nothing on any of them.  Except KC Masterpiece, that place sucks.

They do have a decent variety of sauces, but they are all very pedestrian.

12th Street was good and Willies is essentually the same thing.

It was fun watching Cat Chat at 12th Street and before that Luckeys.  I remember watching Mitch's last Cat Chat there.  Cat Chat hasn't been nearly the same since they moved it to Carlos O'Kelly's, but I haven't been able to go very often.  Hopefully the next coach gets it back in Aggieville.

Kites is good as well though.

Carlos is a sad excuse for Mexican food.

And Goldie has obviously never eaten at a good KC BBQ joint.

Olive Garden and Heineken really destroys your credibility.  However, you did not say which KC BBQ joints you like.  If you say KC Masterpiece or even Zarda i'm taking away your point.

Disliking Heineken destroys your credibility, sir.

As for KC BBQ, my absolute favorite is this hole-in-the-wall joint adjoined to a gas station, and for the freaking life of me I can't think of its name right now. I've only eaten there once, but it was superb. The way BBQ was meant to be. I like Jack Stack and Arthur Bryant's, and Gates is pretty good too. Haven't tried OK Joe's yet.

I can't recall if I've ever even been to KC Masterpiece, and I know I've never been to Zarda.
