Oklahoma joes is attached to a gas station, but I wouldn't call it a hole in the wall.

Hmmm, maybe it was OK Joe's, actually. I sent my bro-in-law an email asking him. He's the one who took us there, wherever it was. It was for lunch, and it blew me away. So much so, it appears, that it blew my memory of its name away.

I don't remember, but my bro-in-law emailed me back and it was indeed Oklahoma Joe's. They have since added another location, apparently.

So, to modify my previous ambiguous statement, Oklahoma Joe's is my favorite KC BBQ joint.

Oklahoma Joe's is the best. They've got a location at 119th and Strang Line Rd. now. Went there last night for the burnt ends.

That must be the location my bro-in-law was talking about, because that would be pretty near my sister. Might have to go visit her soon now...

Oklahoma Joe's is pretty spiffy.  Don't like the beans, but that is probably just me.  There are quite a few good places in the KC area, many of them mom and pops that are seldom mentioned iwth the elites.  I've never liked Gates - love the sauce, but not the meats - just too inconsistent.

Famous Daves is sort of like going to McDonalds for a burger.  It is a burger, but it is very basic, nothing special.

El Caz -- the food is made by authentic illegal Mexicans, so you know it's good; plus, they don't skimp on the margaritas.

There probably isn't a restaurant in North America that doesn't have illegals on their payroll somewhere.

Yeah, but El Caz is primarily illegals, so you can believe them when they tell you they serve authentic Mexican cuisine.

Yes. Got free drinks all the time from my bartender friend (extremely hot girl, coincidentally).

The great thing about El Caz is that is tucked out of the way enough on game days that people forget about it.  1 1/2 hour lines in the Ville or 10 min or less at Caz. Or you can get Dillons Chinese in 5 min. if you don't mind eating Szechuan Fly.

I'm hearing names I'm not familiar with.  Help. Where are these places?

Early Edition
Salty Rim
Rudy's Tenampa Taqueria
Los Potrillos

Early Edition is out in that little shopping center across Bluemont from Wal-Mart.

Los Potrillos is where Amarillo Grill used to be, in front of Hastings.

Salty Rim is just west of Pat's in the 'Ville.

Rudy's...never heard of it.
