So as football season is getting closer, and baseball winding down. It has became clear to me that ku football isn't going to be that good, or as good as they were last year.
I kind of compare ku to Brian Bannister.
Bannister was great last year, came out of nowhere. IIRC, didn't even make the team out of Spring Training. Kind of like ku, wasn't ranked in the preseason, was a virtual unknown and had a great year.
Bannister's stats from last year:
12-9 3.87 ERA. Not bad, good enough to finish 3rd in the AL ROY voting.
This year's stats:
7-11 5.36 ERA. Pretty bad stuff.
He pitches using "smoke and mirrors" with breaking stuff and control. He doesn't have good velocity or anything that he will blow past you.
Bannister had a fluke year last year, like ku. Bannister sucked hard this year. ku will suck hard this year. It's science people.
