that Sky isn't a PG? The talk with Sky always centers around whether or not Sky should get minutes over Taybron or Stewart. He's always in the game with one of those two! He backs up Akeem and Lance and he's never backed up at the PG position. He hasn't been a PG since his SO year.
The formula with Sky has been clear all year, when Lance and/or Akeem struggle, he'll get more time. Its been that way throughout the conference schedule. Sky helps this team the most at SG, he is not as adept as either Clent or Mario at handling the pressure off the dribble. His role is what allows him to come out and play calm, cool, and collected. If he was playing PG 15 minutes a game, the kid would be getting bashed by fans b/c he would struggle.
And let's face it, we pretty much have to play zone when Sky is in there. He isn't going to man many people up and we sure didn't want him on Stinson or Blalock. He's a hard working, undersized kid who simply doesn't have a ton of athleticism. There is a reason he was a walkon.
Please, don't take this as a Sky bash. I like Sky a lot and to me he represents a lot about what is right in college athletics, he's one of my favorite players on this team. However, he is a 8-10 minutes per game role player and he should be allowed to be that. I think the coaches understand that and I don't think they are making a huge error in playing him the amount of minutes he gets. For some reason Sky has become the basketball team's backup quarterback this year.
Okay, just had to get that off my chest.
