Don't go. Really stupid. Go watch The Strangers, infinitely better.

Spoiler Alert:

Trees and plants set off poison and kill people for revenge for all of the people cutting down trees.

    ANGRY AS F*CK
I was really torn after watching it.

It is nicely made...visually pleasing.....Shamalamadingdong has a really cool style to his shots.

The acting wasn't completely horrible...although that chick is boring as hell.  Marky Mark was decent.

The story was mostly original and interesting, but there was no end...that's probably what bugged me.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down?  We might, if they screamed all the time for no good reason.

Christ, you guys are really bad a watching movies.   Did you not notice that some people lived while others died?   It had nothing to cutting down trees.  The people that lived where the ones that had an absence of anger / knew love.   It was a freak'n love story.    Marky Mark's character was great, and I thought it would be clear to everyone.

What's funny, is the one thing I hate about M night is he sometimes clearly spells out things for dumb people;  I like it better when there is no "reveal" and you're left wondering what the point of the story was.  The ending was perfect because there was no, "looke at me, this is what the movie was about!" moment.  I thought for sure when Marky's character left the cabin to spend his dieing moments with the woman he loved only to be spared by the trees would be clear enough for everyone; but it apparently it wasn't. As when I was taking a piss after the movie and heard a couple of guys pondering the ending... I told them the people survived because they "had love in their heart" they just laughed at me and walked away.   dumb asses.

I completely got that...and it wasn't that I was expecting a big ending.  I just wanted something!  Sometimes leaving a movie open-ended like that works, but in my opinion it didn't.

On another note, I really HOPE that he was screwing with us with the scene of the guy in the tiger pen...because that was extremely LOL worthy.

agreed.  There were a couple moments of extreme hokiness. could have done with-out it.   It looked like something the wayens bros would use to make fun of the happening.

Just decent? Not funky?

I was also one of the four people that liked Lady in the Water. But I had a feeling that this one would be a steamer the first time I saw it. When your central advertising slogan is that "it's Shyamalan's dirtiest movie yet", that screams "weak plot".

Just like Sixth Sense ripped off Carnival of Souls, this movie looks like a ripoff of "The Birds".
“My arm gets tired from doing this,” said coach Bill Snyder, waving his arm.

The Birds at least had good character development and plot.

Special effects in The Happening took away from the movie, very cheesy and laughable like everyone is saying.  The girl at the beginning stabbing her throat was good.  The sequence of the cop shooting himself, and other people doing it in turn was good.  The tiger ripping arms off was bad.

no from there, but if it's anything like my hometown you drive 30 minutes to another town to catch a movie show.

The real flaw is that the tree poinsoning just has to stop.  There is no way for the protagonists to battle it, just survive it.  It was a well made movie.  Movie.  Movie, a well made movie.  A well made...

If some dude said something about love in his heart while hanging brain in the men's room I would think  :ku:
