The Royals and Joakim Soria reached agreement Saturday on a six-year contract extension that runs through 2014. The deal includes $8.75 million in guaranteed money over the next three seasons with club options for 2012-14 that could boost the total value to $32.75 million.

Good deal. Soria is one of the better closers around.

One could easily say he's the best closer in baseball right now.  He's got the poise of a 10 year vet and his numbers so far this year have rivaled that of Dennis Eckersley's best year.
