Tony Mitchell just updated his Facebook status:

"Coach B Really Messed Up With My Mom," Tues., Aug. 4th.


Who the hell is Coach B?  Barnes??  Somebody on Georgetown's staff?

His very next status update said something about a coach being fired and lost his transcript.

It's not that I don't think it's possible.  Just seemed like a great opportunity to pretend that catzacker is a crazy mofo.  Also, just kind of reminds me of all those threads like, "Bill Self did NOT want Bill Walker to enroll early."  Maybe it's true, but it's not like our basketball program is some great force to be reckoned with...yet.  Seems like delusions of grandeur, you know?  It could be if Frank retains most of top talent from this year's team and gets Mitchell is 2010, though.    Maybe Bill Self is a preemptive striker.  I have a hard time seeing BS (BS? LOL) discouraging less-than-ethical recruiting.  He pretty much carries the banner for the renegades.

What exactly is Mitchell looking for?

I’m looking for a place that plays run and gun.  Just an offense where they really get up some shots.

Now that July has passed, Mitchell will take some time to sort things out. His mother’s opinion will weigh heavily on his decision, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t willing to get away from his Texas roots (again) for college.

I’m still open to other schools getting in.  I’m looking at playing time, that’s going to be important. Distance and things like that don’t really matter.  It would be great to get back close to home, but it doesn’t really matter.

After having a tremendous month of July, Tony Mitchell named Arizona State, Georgetown and Kansas State as the three schools recruiting him the hardest. He plans to officially visit all three. More visits might be in order as he plans to wait until the spring to sign.

"He's been offered by Kansas State, Arizona State, Georgetown of course, MD, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Missouri" said Vonzell Thomas, Mitchell's travel team coach with Brandon Bass Elite, via telephone. The decision's date has not been finalized, as Thomas informed of it "Right now, it's all up to his mother…I don't know if it's the fall or spring. Right now I would think the fall"....

Before that college choice is made, another school could be chosen; Tony may transfer high schools. "Right now, he's probably going back to Miami Centre Life Academy" shared Thomas, though are other options, such as Dallas' Pinkston are being considered. "That's the two choices. Of course other schools like Findlay (NV) have contacted him".

What an effed up situation.

There's no way this gets cleared up in a week.  And if Asprilla goes to a JUCO, I give the probability of him ever playing at K-State at like 1%.
