What is the word on this d00d http://kansasstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?sport=2&pr_key=84429

according to yosh, ksu stopped recruiting him some time ago.

from his updates, he's doing really well.  also is smart, lots of elite academo type schools like harvard, stanford, vandy are after him.

I got a couple words about him:  weird looking.

He looks like an alien imo.

He really does.   :frown:

I'll give him this:  His hairline and eyebrows are impeccably well maintained.  Wonder if he spends that kind of time on his jumper?

So per Jerry Meyers latest update, Mitchell is going to be a 5-star in the post summer rankings.  Not bad for a guy who was outside of the top 150 just 6 weeks ago.   :skillz:

Gotta admit it - Frank, 'Te and 6Figga are among the best in the nation at evaluating talent.

Also said that Frank was checking out the DCA 16's very closely, prolly not so much for Quinn anymore as for Jordan.

Yeah, I gotta admit that.  You also gotta admit they generally suck at landing said talent.

Maybe the coaching staff should be talking to his mother more than Mitchell himself right about now...

LAS VEGAS- Former Kansas State commitment Tony Mitchell established himself as a promising four-star prospect at the King City Classic earlier in July. This week in Vegas, Mitchell has taken his game to an even higher level.

Mitchell is an athletic talent.
Tony Mitchell (Brandon Bass Elite)

There are similarities between Mitchell and Perry Jones. Both are elite athletes with size and talented but raw skill games. They both have helped their stocks tremendously in Vegas. Jones has gone from borderline elite prospect to potential No. 1 prospect. Mitchell has established himself as a five-star prospect and bona fide NBA prospect.

At 6-foot-7 and with a live body, Mitchell is a legitimate small forward with an explosive first step. He is a developing three-point shooter who also has a post up game. And on the glass, he can rebound with the best of them.

Head coaches from Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Georgetown and Cincinnati were courtside for his game.

seriously, every mitchell report just gets more and more depressing.

Quote
The was supposed to be a showcase of rising senior Tony Mitchell and junior DeAndre Daniels, but Daniels is out of the tournament with a fractured wrist suffered against Grassroots Canada the first night.

Brandon Bass premiered Tony Mitchell, a long (7'2 wingspan), active forward who can play inside and out. Mitchell knows how to post up on the block but spent more time on the wing.

He can shoot it, and opened up this game with a three. He connected on a couple throughout the contest. At times his jump shot looked stiff, but his form is solid, he just needs to relax when shooting. He also took the ball strong to the hoop on several occasions.

Mitchell's biggest strengths are his NBA level athleticism and versatility. His leaping ability helped him grab rebounds easily above everyone else on the floor, and contest shots with intimidation. He can guard multiple positions 2s, 3s and 4s at the next level (college) but he looks more comfortable playing on the perimeter.

His NBA position is most likely at small forward. He's a coachable kid who plays within himself and the flow of the offense. However, often times he relies on his athleticism on defense and ends up out of position. His body has filled out significantly over the last year, especially in the past 6 months, which is a good sign for his durability.

While the Brandon Bass team from Dallas (TX) was not in the Cup Challenge, 6-7 rising senior WF/BF Tony Mitchell (who'll rise into the top 35 in 2010) was absolutely superb.

Does Tony's mom like late 20s, little bit pudgy, white dudes? If so, I can help. If not (most likely case), someone in the KSU "family" needs to find out what she likes and get her on board.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

you may want to check your emaw, friend.  it seems a little low.  (ford would kind of suck, but tj didn't back out on ksu to go play for osu).

would prob rather have him be good on some other team than be stuck with some long armed, no basketball talent having circus freakshow for multiple years taking up a scholarship that could have been given to asprilla II or dpete jr.

Tony Mitchell, SF/PF, Brandon Bass – Mitchell is the owner of one of the best-looking frames in high school basketball. The 6-foot-8 chiseled forward has wide shoulders and long arms, to go with his impressive strength. At this stage we think he’s more of a combo forward, but down the road we think he’ll make the transition to the wing full time. Mitchell has high level hops, can finish at the rim because of his strength and even knocked in a few mid-range jumpers...  Tony Mitchell drew a handful of head coaches – Mick Cronin, Travis Ford, John Thompson and Frank Martin. Louisville, Arizona State and Missouri had assistants watching.

The HoopCity Classic dunk contest was epic - almost 1000 people at the CBE . Kansas City star Frank Williams won the 3-pt contest.

my gut says that if D-Pete doesn't make it, the staff will be offering Frank a scholarship in short order.
