Coleman commits to Providence.  Was probably a massive long shot anyway. :crybaby:

powell blurb & diaries:

Quote
PF Dwight Powell
6-foot-9, 225-pounds, No. 80 in Rivals150

Powell just might be the sleeper big man in the 2010 class. He is long and athletic and has a developing physical frame. Offensively he is comfortable with the ball in both the low post and the high post and shows promise as a finisher. He still has a ways to go as a player, but his upside is quite promising.

Mitchell singled out for defense at the Vince Carter thingy.

Quote
3. Tony Mitchell, 2010, (Grand Prairie, Texas/Living Faith Christian) Mitchell may have been the strongest player in the camp. When he guarded Vince Carter in a one-on-one drill, Carter made mention of his strength. By nature he can defend in the post, but his 7-foot, 2-inch wing span allows him to go out deep on the perimeter and guard. He will be an extremely valuable defender in college. He will be able to defend small forwards, power forwards and some centers. Offensively he drives and finishes well along with scoring on offensive putbacks, and finishing dump-off passes through contact at the rim. He could stand to add a bit of range to his jumper.

Mitchell has apparently really been turning some heads.  Now has a rating of 95! And is ranked #54 on the ESPN 100!

Quote
An unknown who surprised us with his abilities was the willowy 6-foot-7 Mitchell. He is now rated as a potential major college prospect, and with added strength and weight, can play either forward position as a collegian. He has an accurate outside shot, and the athleticism to get to the hoop.

Wrong Tony Mitchell.

Here is ESPN's write-up on our Tony Mitchell. Note that it was done in October 2008.

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=73058&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncb%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fplayer%3frecruitId%3d73058

Evaluation

October, 2008: Mitchell is a long athlete who thrives on the fast break. He runs the lane and can get to the rim on a regular basis. He is most comfortable driving to his right but can slash from the wing on both sides of the floor. He likes to spin off defenders to score at point blank range or finish with a pull up jumper with good elevation. Mitchell will post smaller defenders and execute a nice right handed jump hook over his left shoulder. He is also a regular on the offensive glass with a power put back or athletic tip in. Mitchell is active and is always looking to make a play.

100-250 range as a 3, 100 if he proves he can shoot.
30-150 as a 4, 30 with normal post skills development and another couple inches.

forced to guess, i'd go 88.  style like casey crawford, if crawford wasn't a complete pussy.

very funny.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Frank Williams starting to garner some attention...........

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frank Williams | SG

Hometown  Raytown, MO
High School Raytown High School
Position rank Shooting Guard # 32
Height 6'5"
Weight 175 lbs.

Last Updated: 7/3/2009 Data provided by Scouts, Inc.
Evaluation / Notes On the Trail / Features
Status
Undeclared

Scouts Grade
93

Considering: No schools at this time. Evaluation
June, 2009: This long, lean and athletic wing finishes over or around opponents in transition. Williams has a scorer's mentality and can hit threes in bunches by sprinting the floor in transition, spotting up on the side of dribble penetration or coming off screens. He also is skilled enough to make scoring plays off the dribble. Williams uses his length to shoot over smaller defenders. He is also a capable multiple position defender, good ball handler and rebounder. He is off to a great start this spring and one to watch closely this summer.

Frank Williams is ready to play basketball for Kansas State. The 2010 prospect already owns a closet full of purple gear and follows the team throughout the season, rarely missing a game. All he needs now is a scholarship offer. The goal is one he moved a little closer to reaching during this weekend, as walked left Manhattan with an invitation to attend the school's upcoming Elite Basketball Camp......................

I'm starting to think we should make an offer.

Plus, he fits into the "I just want kids that want to be here" category which is very important.
