Would definitely take Spradling, though I wouldn't want him to be the gem of the class.

I'd sign him quickly though wheen the time comes and hope he isn't rather than not sign him and have Abdul Herrera, and Buchi being the gems again.

    Ready for Maize girls!
Northstarbball says that Kyrie Irving is visiting Indiana this weekend.  Hopefully we can also get him in for a visit this season.

New name.  Tony Mitchell.  Three star small forward for '10.  Impressive, albeit short list of schools.  Has Texas and Marquette as his leaders with interest.

EDIT:  Just realized he came to the elite camp this summer per J-Mart.

Nice short write-up on Mitchell from Rivals that I hadn't seen before.

Spralding commits.
"I will pay any referee to sit in the post and let somebody beat the crap out of him and see how he likes it, see how his back likes it, how his arms like it. Just because Mike is 6-8 and 260 pounds doesn't mean he doesn't hurt when he gets fouled." Craig Esherick

Well it sounds like he's coming but he won't be the gem of the class I think Mitchell is going to be fairly well rated when it's all said and done.  How many ships are we going to have for 2010 we already have 2 committs?

i do.

i worry, though, that a lack of 2010 dcaers will make it harder to land goodman.  really want him.

That's two non-garbage, non-DCA commits for this class.  Our staff continues to impress.

Didn't think of this.  That's why I try to tag along with the HBBIQ crowd here.  Hoping it will rub off on sd.

The really nice thing is that we are getting, presumably, the coaches first choices here.  Spradling and Mitchell are elite campers who were offered very early.  These two could end up being the Witherspoon and Kadji who blow up later on.  Only this time, the staff had enough "credit" to get the early commit.  It'll be interesting to see what happens with their stock.  Worst case scenario, they have prtoected themselves from having to take whatever they can get late.  At this point, I would put both these kids at the Jamar Samuels level recruit at minimum.  I hvae heard a lot of good things about both, and they both had high major interest.  Kruger and Majarus eval carries a lot of weight too IMO.

Also two FIMC (First Inaugural Manhattan Classic) players.  Good to see that pay off.

That are still uncommitted?  Boyd and Lat Will are the big names still out there.  Every other guy I know of left from 09 or 10 is committed.  There were some 11 prospects as well...Steele Davis was one.

    The very best.
n e 1 else not sure what to make of these 2010 recruits? neither are listed on any top 100 lists, but both seemed to be wanted by others schools.

dunno, just don't really want to jump into this "OMG! FRANK IS A GOD!" crap the tards keep spewing. gotta keep it realistic, that way i can stay #1.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

That kid from florida sounds like the real deal... I have watched Spralding play and it is very good probably one of the best from the KC area already. He just needs to get bigger muscle wise and get some seasoning and he could be good as well.. I think spralding will rise on the recruiting trail as that time comes around. He is very talented.

Not thrilling recruits as of yet, but I think the thing to keep in mind if that they are thrilling gets.  We've just picked up two guys with high major offers and lists, one right out from under Lon Kruger (Not that The Mountain West is high major, but still good.)  We just had Underwood pull in a kid OMGFG.  We just got two kids from two different AAU teams.  Frank used his Florida connections and it actually worked.  And while they aren't a top class by any means, they are a solid start to a solid class.  After the follow up to our last ranked class (Buchi and a guy who stands behind the bench, this is a much nicer follow up.  Kids are giving us looks and it's paying off.

ESPN seems to think Spradling is a pretty good prospect.  The 88 ranking prob'ly puts him in the Top 100-130 range for 2010.
