    Gettin' angried up!!!
from a kstate fan perspective, i think it'd be nice to have him redshirt.  i don't think he's going to be a significantly better player for playing vs just practicing though his soph year at juco.

oth, if the redshirt is imposed against his will due to some eligibility question...  i'd rather have the peace of mind of knowing that whatever issue may or may not have existed is over with and won't impact his time at kstate.

Seems like the younger Hannah brother missed a few games early this season due to some amateur status issues incurred after his transfer to WSU.  Maybe it was a similar situation to Spri's, thus the similarly short ineligibility period.  I understand there is a significant amount of paperwork that has to be filed and processed for a transfer to be handled fully.  Maybe the short amount of time between his final decision to attend Dade and the beginning of the season caused some problems?  Regardless, I'm glad to see him playing.   :hope:  Puts my mind at ease a bit more.

This site isn't always up to date, but he's playing.

I don't think its a bad thing and it was the plan all along.  Agree with sys, this means that paperwork/etc. are in the clear and he shouldn't have any problems getting to Manhattan.  Plus, I think I'd probably rather have him play at Dade than redshirt there.  If a redshirt was a possibility, it would have probably been in Manhattan.

Would have had to been on his own dime due to the whole FIU not releasing him thing.

Yes.  After he was not released, IMO the likelyhood of Asprilla going to a JUCO and redshirting was very, very slim unless he was injured or something like that.

I wonder if that Ryan Hare kid is related to that white driveway player on Nebraska's team about 8 or 9 years ago.

Getting a lot of questions about Gio Fontan and how good he is. Scout.com had him No. 13 PG in the Class of 2007. He's delivered on that.

sounds like kstate is a long shot though.

Will be interesting to see where Jio Fontan ends up. Really unclear right now. A lot of schools are involved with the Fordham transfer.... Alabama, Kansas State, Maryland, Miami, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, and USC are all in the picture for Fontan.

Former Fordham guard Jio Fontan plans to visit Alabama after he trips to USC and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-1 Fontan leaves Friday for USC and will see the Tennessee-USC game Saturday.

He goes to Tennessee Tuesday and will visit Alabama sometime before the New Year.

“I spoke with Coach [Anthony] Grant in Alabama,” said Jorge Fontan, Jio’s dad. “We’re probably going to visit them after Tennessee and after Christmas. They have a game on the 30th [against Tennessee State].”

Alabama point guard MikhailTorrance is a senior and Grant told Fontan he needs another floor general for next year. Jio becomes eligible in December 2010 after sitting out a year.

“He said he needs a skillful point guard that has a high IQ,” Jorge said. “Alabama has a bunch of athletes but he needs a point guard who can help that whole situation out and come in and be an impact player right away. The way the system is and the way Jio is, he would be a good fit for that situation,” Jorge said.

A Paterson, N.J. native, Fontan departed Fordham after deciding it was no longer the right fit. He was the team’s leading scorer (15.3 ppg) and leader in assists (132) as a freshman.

He has visited Miami and will hit USC, Tennessee and Alabama. Jorge said they are uncertain where they would take another visit.

“I don’t know who the fifth visit will be,” Jorge said.

Kid has a 46-inch vertical leap. Kid would be an absolute stud in Martin's system. Another inch or so and he would have great size for a shooting guard. Kid has a nice stroke and is very strong. Would be a nice get.

His jump-shot reminds me of Ron Kellogg.  Much more athletic though.
