so, is blue ray the leading hd dvd producer?  I don't want to buy one that will be irrelevant in a year or 2.  Like sega saturn.

Blu-ray is all that's left.  Toshiba threw in the towel on HD-DVD a while back.

Blu-Ray is the clear winner. I picked up an HD DVD player and Planet Earth on HD DVD for $60 total. That's less than Planet Earth on Blu Ray alone, so I jumped on it.
