It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I may be a bit too optimistic about the offense, a too disoptimistic (word?) about the D-FENCE

Actually I'm quite impressed Fatty....those predictions look about right to me. And the games that could go either way you have close.

So, yah......I could see that happening.

we'll have snyder's players so i think we'll win one of the games vs. baylor, mu, cu, and ku.  though we could easily lose the nebraska game

Over the past two years, Snyder's players have shown that they are capable of winning four or five games.  Awesome.

Here's my predictions just for fun:

ILLINOIS STATE-W 42-14
FLA. ATLANTIC-W35-7
MARSHALL-W21-13
LOUISVILLE-L49-24 (lol i agree with fatty on this one i just wanted to make mine slightly different)
@ BAYLOR-W21-17
OKLAHOMA STATE-W35-21
NEBRASKA-L24-17
@ MISSOURI-L31-17 (i just don't have a good feeling about that game)
IOWA STATE-W27-24
@ COLORADO-L38-20
TEXAS-L30-17 (i think we hang tough for a while but eventually the 'horns take over in the 2nd half)
@ KANSAS-W17-14

So overall I think my honest prediction is 7-5.  The games I have a tough time deciding on are Nebraska, Missouri and ku...we own Mizzou but i just don't have a good feeling about the game this year esp. with it being in Columbia.  I think Nebraska will be an intense game that can go either way, but this year the Huskers are the more talented team overall so I'll go with them for now.  And as for ku...i just need some sweet revenge after walking out of the stadium in Lawrence two years ago in dejection...any win there will be good enough for me!!

I find it kind of interesting that you have us beating teams like Nebraska and Iowa State, and then having us lose to teams like Missouri, ku and Baylor.   Just curious, what's your reasoning behind that.

Anyway, these are my predictions.  I won't bother with predicting scores, but I'll do my best to explain why I have these predictions.

Illinios State- I will slit my wrists if we lose this game....
Florida Atlantic- See above
Marshall- I'd like to say "see above" again, but they got us 2 years ago and we very luckily escaped their house with a W last year.  We should win easily, but they've always seemed to play us tough
Louisville- They have one of the greatest QB/RB combos with Brian Brohm and Michael Bush.  I don't think our players who are still trying to adapt to the new system can keep up with this highly potent offense very succesfully.  I'll put in a loss there.
at Baylor- First Big 12 game, it's on the road, and it's Baylor.  This is a game we should win, but could easily overlook if we do well against Louisville.  I'l give the Wildcats the edge, but it could get ugly if we don't show up ready to give it our all..
Okie Lite- Bobby Reid last year, well he didn't really do much.  He should be a little better this year, but his only real offensive weapon is going to be D'Juan Woods.  The defense isn't really all that stellar either.  W for the Cats.
Nebraska- Close loss.  Nebraska is loaded with upper-classmen and a seasoned QB in Zac Taylor.  The Cats should keep it close though.  They always seem to step it up a notch when they play the corn, plus the 'skers haven't won in Manhappenin in over a decade.
@Mizzou- They couldn't beat us with Brad Smith, so it's hard for me to believe that they could possibly beat us without him.  Chase Daniels is supposedly a good QB, but I doubt that he can immediatly have the impact that Brad Smith had.  Every other position improves a bit though, but I don't think it'll be enough to get them over the hump.
Iowa State- With Bret Meyer, Stevie Hicks, and Todd Blythe, this will probably be too much for our D to handle.  It'll most likely look a lot like the Louisville game.
@Colorado- They're going through a similar phase as we are, only they have a seasoned coach and better talent.  They do lose their best offensive players in Klatt and Kloppenstien though.  It'll be a very close game, but I think the Buffs win.  Wouldn't be suprised the least bit if we went there and won though.
Texas- Defending NC.  Loss
@Kansas- The squawkers start Kerry Meier, a freshman at QB, and they have a young defense.  The rivalry has grown enough to pretty much guarantee a competitive game, but I think that we're too much for the hawks to handle.

So my prediction is  7-5 (4-4)

ill. st -  W
fau - W
marshall - should be a W
louisville - L
baylor - W, they are improved but hopefully not enough to beat us, also this would be an embarassing loss
osu - W, they still suck
nebraska - L, but im still not sure why people seem to think they are the clearcut favorite to win the north other than the north sucks
mu- W
cu - W seems like we should win this game but its in boulder so who knows
ut- L
ku - W

i dont see why we cant win 8 games other than im sure we'll figure out a way to blow a game against a team like colorado, baylor or missouri

Home games, Nebraska will be our biggest game of the year.

Keep the predictions coming!

Everything depends on the defensive front four and Oline.

This is where the lack of depth has hurt.  Bad recruiting by assistants in previous years.

The recruitment of Hawaiian bro's didn't help this team.  Too many questionable jucos.

Zero depth at D-end was the last straw that broke the camels back.

If the front 4 are 'solid' on D and the  OLine is healthy then this team could really put a smile on your face. 8)

I like our offensive line (Gerard Spexarth, Derek Meyer, Matt Boss, Greg Wafford and Jordan Bedore) because 4 starters return if we can keep them all vertical.

Blake Seiler and Quintin Echols make up a solid side of the defensive line. We'll see if Ian Campbell and Alphonso Moran can get it done on the other side.

it is definately nice to have the guys returning and we have definately had some injury problems in the past 2 years on the offensive line so i dont see why it wouldnt be improved this year but the question for me is how good are these guys actually b/c we havent seen them play together healthy.  everything up to this point has indicated that wafford is the only one that is good but the rest are young and have been injured.  i still say that QB, DE, and RB (if johnson isnt good) are our biggest concerns.

4 games we WILL win --  ILL St, FAU, Marshall, OK ST. 4-0 mark it down.

4 tough games at home -- UT, UL, NU, ISU.   I am confident we beat Isu and lose to Texas.  Between UL and NU, i think we have a 60 percent chance to win one of those 2.   So that is going 2-2 in those 4 home games.

4 road games -- CU, ku, BU, MU.  None of these games are guarenteed losses.  I would not feel real confident if we had to play at NU or Isu.   I think we can win 2 of those 4 games.  I think CU beats us. We beat ku. We split the MU/Baylor games.

That leaves us at 8-4.  If we finished 7-5, that would not shock me either.

8-4 --- 45 percent chance
7-5 --- 40 percent chance
6-6 --- 10 percent chance
9-3 or 5-7 --- 5 percent chance

The UT game will be close mark my words.  Freshman QB's suck.  Rhett Bomar struggled with one of the best backs and O-lines in the nation.  His only good game was against us.  We won't be able to score on UT but they won't score a lot on us either.  They barely win in a similar game to last year's KSU-ku game.

I must admit, it still makes me laugh to see people mention "We'll have Snyder's players" ... yep, Snyder's players were GREAT the past two seasons.

I'll take a different approach:

 ILLINOIS STATE:    1.0
Flordia ATLANTIC:    1.0
MARSHALL:             .7
LOUSIVILLE:            .3
@ Baylor:                 .6
OKLAHOMA STATE:  .7
NEBRASKA:              .5
@ Mizzou:                .5
Iowa State:             .7
@ CU:                    .5
Texas:                   .3
@ ku:                   .6

               Season:  7.4

I'll guess 7 - 5  (4 - 4)
Should be good enough for a top 3 in the big 12 north.
