Dude was a great recruit (by K-State standards 5 years ago) who could have gone to other programs.  Even if he ,wasn't an all-conference player, he was the best option we had at his position (which wasn't even his natural position) for the last 4 years, as sad as that may be.  Without Clent, the program isn't as good over that span.

BTW, I agree that Clent underachieved this year and put up very pedestrian numbers, though he was living up to what I expected in the first part of the Big 12 season.  He was a role player who was asked to do more than what he was capable of pretty much his whole career while playing for 3 different coaches and 4 different offensive systems.  No doubt the better player this year was Jacob Pullen, but for whatever reason Martin trusted Clent more and had him on the floor more. 

Now its time to move on; Pullen and Clemente should definately give us a better starting tandem next season and hopefully Brown can continue to develop and we can get Evans or another solid SG prospect.  We need more depth going into next season at the guard position, but I like what we have coming and they should be fun to watch.

i would have agreed until this year.  he was only asked to defend and hit open 3s this year.  in response, he arguably had his worst year at ksu.  he was really a disappointment this year, even given realistic expectations for his performance.

I don't disagree that it was a disappointing performance.  He was what I thought he would be through most of December and January.

I think we're forgetting about Gilbert.  Don't count him out of the race.  I could very easily see him and Brown pushing Sutton and Kent.

Separate the person from the player.  The reasons don't matter.  The results do.  Clent is probably a hell of a nice person (Wooly was too), but his results this year, for whatever reasons and valid or not, were not that great.

I think the whatever reason for Clent over Pullen was defense, he knew his role in that regard and was solid IMO, he D'ed up Mayo pretty well in Omaha.

So at the end of the day the hate should really go to Martin b/c he's the guy who consistently showed he trusted Stewart more than Pullen and as a result played him more minutes.  And he's the one that continued to play him those minutes after he came back from his mom's death despite Stewart showing he wasn't the player he was before that (in Dec and Jan he had arguably the best stretch of basketball he ever had at K-State).

Yes.  It was the one substitution/playing pattern that I didn't like at all.  I don't know if I would characterize Martin has trusting Stew more, IMO, Martin was trying to prove points with Pullen and was holding him to a higher standard than Clent. 

January and the first week or so of February was the best stretch of basketball that I have personally seen KSU play in more than a decade and my guess would be the best since around '92.
