I've now been to 6

1)Denver  (saw lon kruger and UNLV team there, was too afraid to talk to them)
2)Seattle (high-tech, good archi.)
3)Salt Lake (good signs)
4)Atlanta (gigantic! and a train! ( ))
5)Portland (lame, empty)
6)Kansas City (nothing really there, but it's unique)

i'm always torn.  on the one hand, i feel like i should say something, so as to have fresh message board material.  on the other hand, i never really have anything to say, even to people i know.  talking with strangers just seems so pointless.

1. Minn/St Paul Int...snow, what snow, how they keep things running is beyond me but very smooth
2. Dallas Love Field...minutes from downtown, no traffic and long horizontal esculators (yes, I'm sure there's a word for it)
3. Portland Int...airport is ok but the view of a snow capped Mount Hood peaking above the clouds is always priceless
4. Will Rogers...ever want an airport all to yourself, fly into OKC
5. KCI...might as well call it Iowa Int, seriously, is this the farthest airport from a city in the world?
6. Corpus Christi Int...this is a destination flight and all tickets to and fro are $$$
7. DFW...as a facility, pretty damn impressive but if you haven't used this one alot, you could be lost for weeks
8. Newark Liberty Int...it's in Jersey, 'nough said

Oh, the airports.

1)  KCI.  Far superior to everyone.  No contest, really.  Location sucks, though.
2)  LAX.  Huge, yet feels small due to setup.  Love the internationalness, the 747's and 777's, and famous restaurant thingy.
3)  San Diego.  Flying in next to the skyscrapers and taking off over the ocean is cool.
4)  Midway.  Just like it.

Everything else (DFW, PHX, IAH, OKC, ICT, ORD, DIA, ATL, etc.) is the same old crap.  Norfolk is probably the worst I've flown in/out of.

Airports:

American

1.  Miami.  Ummmm.  It is in Miami.  You go outside for a cab or a smoke in Winter and it is sunny and beautiful.  That is hard to beat.
2.  KCI.  Unbelievably easy to pick-up/drop-off.  Almost never cancellations/waits for luggage, free 30 minute parking.  Great excuse to hit up casinos.  Pretty terrible drive from Manhattan, but almost zero time wasted there.  Almost nothing to do, but that is never a problem.
3.  Denver (awesome airport.  It is huge and beautiful.)
4.  Atlanta has a train, it is big, meh.
5.  Memphis.
6.  El Paso.  Like cross between Manhattan and KCI, except waaaay craptier than both.
7.  Detroit.  Awful.  The new terminal has a verrry posh restaurant/hotel with 50 foot bamboo shoots and calming asian decor.  Only thing that puts it above the next two.
8.  O'Hare.  AWFUL, in every way possible.
9.  JFK.  I don't remember it, but that's probably because I've blocked it out of my memory.
10.  John Wayne:  every piece of sh1t x-gamer was there.  It was awful.  The surroundings, the people, the silicone, the endless/mindless cell-phone conversations, the skater punks with $2000 baggage and $300 sunglasses.  Nauseating.


Other airports I've been to but don't remember:  Phoenix, Philly, DC, others I really don't remember

International:

1.  Rome.  Direct Quote from a "security" officer after someone went through and it beeped a second time:  "Eh, you know.  It probly nothing, thank you."  God Bless!
2.  Heathrow:  free showers that seemed very clean by far best duty free/VAT refunds/poshness
3.  Madrid: in & out, nice weather, babes. (very Miami-esque with bonus of fewer Cuban-Americans)
4.  Cape Town:  very nice, but unremarkable.  Not on the level of the other three.
5.  Maracaibo:  basically a small regional airport that lands huge planes.  Pretty terrible.  Lots of dudes that try to sell you crap.  Drunkenly bought plastic wrap for my suitcase on way out of town.
6.  Cozumel:  The sun is the only thing that saves this place.  Looks kind of like where people used to land Dc-9s to fly pot/coke to the US in the 70s.

Really? No waits? I'd wager to bet you wait longer for luggage at MCI than most airports simply because the baggage claim is so close to the gate. By the time you get to the baggage claim they're still getting the luggage off the plane.

Albuquerque is probably the most efficient airport I've been to. I've come to really hate Denver. Denver has a train, it is big, meh.

Austin - Clean, decent food choices, fellow travelers like to talk football (especially A&M fans after the Longhorns lose big at home the previous day).

Lubbock - Kinda like KCI - sterile environment, have to wait until noon on Sunday to buy a beer.  Witnessed a member of Bob Knight's support staff grab a recruit, put him in an SUV and speed away from the terminal.

Fresno Air Terminal (FAT) - Kinda like Kansas, "it's bigger than you think".  Weird seeing members of the Oklahoma State women's basketball team there.

Denver has the best Airport in America... if you hate it, it's probably because you're flying United instead of Frontier 

KCI is nice and empty

McCarran has good terminals and bad

San Diego is a tiny overly busy dump

Atlanta feels like a UPS distribution center and it's enormous

Fort Lauderdale is small and easy

Orlando has a pretty cool train

DFW is pretty nice as big airports go

Boise makes KCI look like JFK

Dulles has the kewlest architecture and the biggest planes

Detroit is big and ugly

MSP is a great place to pick up dudes

The fact that you beat the baggage is a good thing.  Being stuck in the airplane for 30+ minutes on the tarmack is not unusual at some airports.  I've literally never had a serious problem at KCI (minus a cancellation for weather elsewhere).  I've been to Detroit twice a year for my entire life.  Detroit's airport is so awful I have really come to appreciate the no frills, steady competence of MCI.

KCI, so easy but sucks to have to go through secruity any time you have to piss.

midway, simple but some long walks sometimes.

atlanta, i was intimidated but it was really easy to get around.

Houston, like a crappier version of atlanta

Phoenix, nice

Orlando, harder to get around and confusing to drive out of.

Montego bay, cheap liquer.

Orange County, pretty easy.

For starters, all airports suck.

Denver - good eats and easy to get around but parking can suck when it is full, and its always full.

Minn/StP - sat in the plane on the tarmac for 2 freakin hours awaiting them to spray ice remover on every jet leaving.  Holy frack some flight take off vertical and scare me into possible sharting everywhere.

Portland - the view of all the volcanoes up and down the Cascade range from Mt. Shasta in CA, to Ranier is absolutely amazing.  They often take every inbound flight right by Mt. Hood, which is way cool.  Hardly ever crowded, but security seems to see me as fff because I"ve been taken out of line twice now.
 
Salt Lake - Can be a cool landing if they come in from over the lake because you never see land until your about 2 feet from touchdown.  Long walks if you are required to switch at times.

1)KCI --in and out--the convenience of three separate circular terminals rule.

2)Minn/st.paul -- underground tunnels to all terminals was cool

3)Logan (Boston) -- This was pretty cool, got to ride the rail for the first time in my life
  boston made me mad because after we got through security, there was no bars open to eat...I was working 6p to 6am and our flight was at 9am, so we were looking to get some booze for the way back and of course they didn't sell that early in the morning.  bummer.


O'Hare--layover, didn't really stick around long enough for an opinion.

Vegas-- It was so long ago I hardly remember, however, how can you beat slots before a flight though.

Hopefully I will find another trip this year for work that will bring me somewhere on the west coast.

Good:
1. kuaui, HI - Small, easy to navigate, friendly.  Saw one of the hottest girls I've ever seen in my life here.
2. Kansas City - Sucks if you have to transfer through here (Unless you are flying to a smaller KS airport, you shouldnt have to) because of different buildings.  Seperate security for gates goes quick.
3. New Orleans - Was quick through everything, spread out checkin areas by different terminals to reduce crowding

Bad
1. Lexington, Ky - Been delayed/canceled/transfered everytime out.  Seems like airline canceled flights just to force everyone onto one full one each day. Smaller than Wichita
2. Honolulu, HI - Had to go through a bunch of construction and wierd corridors that didn't seem like public passageways.  Hard to navigate.

1. ATL- the best restraunt in the world resides in this airport Oscar Meyer HotDog Factory- its a freaking subway for hotdogs!!!!!!
2. Ohara- I like the neon lights
3. Denver- looks badass while flying into it
4. KCI- Its a small town feeling, plus when flying out of there once I sat next to a football coach, he was talking defensive X's and O's on his blackberry
5. Nassua Bahamas, the most podunk piece of crap airport EVER
