Gross Revenue-$48,346,511 (year over year increase of $4,935,000 million)

Net Revenue-$8,728,511 (a year over year increase of $151,635)

Football Revenue-$21,730,191 (a year over year increase of $2,958,690)

Basketball Revenue-$5,480,852 (a year over year increase of $1,759,642)

Notes:

Women's basketball revenue was down $413,732 year over year.

Athletic accounting practices vary by a great degree, and nobody is saying there was $8.7 million in cash just laying on Timmy Weiser's desk on 7/1/2007, but what it does say is that KSU athletics is extremely healthy financially.   Plus, unlike a certain school down the road, KSU athletics isn't f_cking the students to the tune of $3 million dollars per school year to pay for sports that 99% of the students don't give a f_ck about and build facilities that 99% of the students will never set foot in.

Sure, I can see that.  But keep this in mind . . . at the other school they only offer 2 more non-revenue sports than KSU does and I've heard of no plans to add any more.   They are using part of those student fees to build a crew house for the rowing team . . . KSU built a new crewhouse with private money.   They're always bragging about how much money they have from donors, and they run a bigger budget surplus than KSU does, plus have one of the most bloated athletic administrations in all of NCAA sports . . . and are contributing money back to things like a cancer research center (very admirable, but purely a PR move).   In essence they don't need the student fees, but have no shame in taking them.   When KSU has used student fees for athletic facilities it ensured that the students had some of the best seats, and allowed those facilities to be used for non-athletic events like Landon Lectures, SGA events etc. etc.  I don't see a crewhouse on the Kansas river in Lawrence hosting a lecture from Bill Clinton anytime soon.

How bout Wrestling and womens soccer ? Surely those sports can't be that expensive to fill outside of Scholarship costs. The soccer team can play in the old memorial stadium Wrestlers can use Ahern.

I disagree.  I really don't give a f*ck about anything other than football and MBB.  If keeping sports at the D1 minimum helps those sports, keep them at the minimum.

Awww... those are some cute little numbers.  You guys might finally be able to compete with the big boys someday.  BTW, I have no idea what the hell you're talking about with the "certain school down the road" building facilities that 99% of the students will never set foot in.  Kansas is adding on four more basketball courts, additional weight room space, a full-size track, virtual golf, and more raquetball courts to the student rec center.  I'd say that benefits about 99% of the students on campus.  

You must be referring to the women's rowing team getting approval for a brand new boat house.  The football team's already got a $31 million football facility on the way and the basketball team is getting another $15 million for improvements to Allen Fieldhouse.  With the kind of football season Kansas is having, I expect the money to just keep rollin' in.

LOL . . . the ku students get hit with a $40 fee every semester specifically to go to ku athletics BMW.   That has nothing to do with student recreational services.

In terms of Net Revenue, KSU has one of the highest net revenues in all of college athletics.  

Plus, I've read ku's financial reports, you guys have a ton of debt yet to take care of, and again, one of the most bloated administrations in all of college athletics.  Sweet Lew really bent the average ku student over with those fees.

It's not available yet, in fact ku athletics is in violation (what else is new) of Federal Law by not keeping their EADA report section up to date online, they only have the FY 2005 report available.   ku's will look impressive, and it doesn't hurt that they get to supplement their bottom line by $3 million or so a year using student fees either.

QFT.  Except the students at KSU throw hissy fits when the issue of student fees pops up.  IIRC, we could have paid for stadium renovations without private dollars (or at least without using a ton of bonds) after '98 if the students would have passed an increase in student fees.

You guys are missing the point.  Weiser's goal (endowments) is a very long term one, someday over the rainbow, we'll be set, someday.  He'll spend enough (as little as possible) on facilities for either MBB or FB to keep us running (see Carl Peterson) but never more than he has to.  We've been throwing money at FB and MBB for the last 20 years and it's gotten us to where we are, but not any further.  Meanwhile, other schools in the Big 12 are passing us and our facilities by, most of which were built over 10 years ago.  We stand to bring additional funds into our entire AD by bringing in more students/parents/alumni to KSU via the non-revenue sports.  Wrestling, Girls Soccer, Lacrosse, anything.   

Just imo.
