It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

why? so we can have a qb that averages 3.9 ypc instead of handing it off to an actual RB?

i have to agree with the subject of this thread. before thine own eyes, every pass he makes is another square inch of bronze to be melted to form and mold this great man into a statue that my kids (not born yet) will ask me who that great man was on our way into Jarsh Freeman Memorial Sprint Piggly Wigglies Auto Zone Stadium.

having him play so much last year was a godsend. there are the comparisons to bledsoe, and ill take it.

im stoked. excited. i take my jarsh freeman excitement with two lumps of sugar.

I think we need to hold a funural for the QB run game.  Some people are holding on to yesterday a little too much.

When our O-line improves will this even be an issue? No, because we will have a consistent run game w/ running backs that will keep the pressure off using all types of runs (reads, draws, dives, stretch, etc.). Also, a consistent run game will open up play-action, screens and trickery.

Look at how the O-line has improved from last season to this season. They are by no means great, but they have improved. I would consider them consistently serviceable and at times they are good. I think it's pretty safe to assume that the O-line will be much better next year.

Also, should JF have to scramble he will the potential to obliterate any defender who is not a D-lineman. JF @ 260# > DB or LB for collision purposes. Anyone care to guess what the coefficient of restitution is between JF and a defender?

I do see a lot of progress.  I think he is making good reads, making good throws, leading the offense, and most importantly he hasn't really made bad turnovers the past 3 games (only one of the INT's vs. ku was a bad decision IMO).  He just needs to continue to do so.  IMO, we aren't losing game because of JF this year.  Last year we lost games because he turned it over or couldn't make correct reads/throws (and that was in part because of the OL).  This year we're losing (or winning) because of our defense.

I'd agree with that assessment -- he's looked a lot better this year.  Now if someone can just teach him how to slide...

My point is that you are stupid if you think the QB run game is dead.
Dennis Dixon- Oregon #5 AP
Juice Williams- Illinois
Tyrod Taylor- Va Tech #8 AP
Pat White- West Virginia
Tim Tebow- Florida #9 AP

3 running QB's on 3 top 10 teams.  You have 8 million posts on message boards and you know anything about football, sad.

Sure thing ISF. Who said the QB run game is dead? I'm enjoying averaging 38 points per game in big 12 play.

Tim Tebow is injured right now.  Do you know how screwed we would be if Freeman went down?  As much as Texas was last year when Colt did.  Next year we'll actually have back-ups that don't look like the guy on Mad Magazine and might actually be able to put a drive together.

The option QB is fine.  So is a drop back passer with some mobility.  I do wish JF had a bit more mobility so in times where things break down and the coverage is good he could tuck it and run (not like Ell or Bishop, or even Beasley, but just a little more mobility than he currently has), but given the QB we have and the physical skill set he was given, he's made good progress.

Also, if our defense could stop anyone, we'd be f'ing undefeated with a drop back QB.  We aren't losing because JF can't run the spread option.

Some dumbass said we should hold a funeral for the QB run game.  Just because we don't have a running QB doesn't mean it's dead.  I like JF and our offense right now.  Might want to remember that he's throwing to the people's champ though.  Jordy won't be here next year.

I'm pretty sure he was saying/implying KSU fans should hold the funeral because we aren't going back to that in any way shape or form so get over it.  Yes, Jordy will be a big loss next season.  Hopefully having the entire OL back next year will provide JF more time to look for other receivers and provide JF a running game.

West Virginia was non existent before Pat White, same with Illinois and Juice Williams, now they are both competitive teams and have been ranked in previous weeks.

Va Tech wasn't top 10 last year without a running QB.

Since when has Oregon been in the top 10 every year?  Last year they weren't in the final top 25.

And everyone knows that a huge part of Florida's NC run was their second dimension with Tebow as QB running the ball.  Without him, they aren't in the NC picture last year.

Things are coming together for Josh.  He's playing at a very high level and he's fiinally getting some decent protection and he's got some good weapons to work.  We're going to be a very hard offense to stop the rest of this season if everyone stays healthy.

Not sure I understand the knock on Josh's mobility.  The protection has been poor at times and yet he hardly ever takes a sack.  He's got good instincts to evade the rush and he almost always gets out of the pocket and gets a throw off under pressure.  He's been sacked an incredibly low number of times this year considering; how much we throw, the lack of steller o-line play, and the high quality of competition we've faced.  Maybe he's not going to burn you for a 15 yard scramble but he's fast enough to get out of the pocket and get the ball away to an open guy which to me is more dangerous then a guy that is always looking to run at the first sign of trouble.

Until Freeman graduates, the QB run game won't happen at KSU.  After him, I don't think its unthinkable.  Prince is not opposed to using it in his offense, he's just opposed to using it with Josh Freeman.

Good lord.  ISF's gone wild!

Nobody said that the QB run game was dead.  I suggested that we hold a funural for it at KSU because we ain't gonna see it here anytime soon.  Can't say that I have a problem with that either.

For as much as the QB run game helped KSU in the past, it was a double edged sword.  Bishop's fumble against A&M, Ell's injury against McNeese St, Ell's fumble at UT, etc...
