Maybe nobody answered your statement that Prince has more Big 12 road wins because it is incorrect. Prince <CU, Texas> and Mangino <MU, ISU> both have two.

Of course Prince is moving more quickly than Mangino. Mangino didn't have tools like Nelson, Watts, Archer and Campbell sitting around. He took over a team that was the worst in the North by a large margin, and made them respectable. The key, both for Mangino, and for Prince, will be to see whether they can take that next step.

It was a great win for you guys yesterday. Why do you feel the need to qualify it against what ku has done, or get our approval that it was a big win? Most of us rooted for you guys yesterday anyway.

That guy is a douche, but this board, in general, drastically overstates how "bad" Snyder left this program.  Snyder left more NFL draft picks on the roster than ku has had in the past 10 years.

We weren't a horrible team when Prince took over...but we were bad enough to lose to Kansas. That's bad.

How about the fact that our two conference wins were by a combined 16 points? We couldn't finish those games?

the ku game was in hand before the 4th quarter and a lot of emotion and a lot of things went right in Snyder's final game.  and two out of those three we lost we were leading with under 2 minutes left in the game.  still lost those games.

mind?

it shouldn't take double digit posts before someone laughs at trips for that.  are there no jayhawks on the football board?

Pussy's, team cancers, etc.

In all seriousness, I contribute the 04-05 meltdown to a combination of these things:

1.  Horrible defensive coaching.  Obviously BB was the guy getting it done.  We didn't do a good job of replacing him.  Looking back our defense was horid during those two years.

2. Instability at QB.  None of those guys were Roberson/Dunn level talent, but it was like the Dunn/Roberson year stretched out into two years.

3. Youth.  A lot of raw talented underclassmen...very few seasoned upperclass vets.  It seemed, though I haven't really checked, that Snyder went after youth more than JUCOs for a couple of seasons as well.  At least that's how the resulting team appeared.

4.  Complacency/attrition in the staff.  The good assistants kept leaving and slowly but surely the replacements weren't as good.  You have to wonder why some of the guys that were around forever, we're around forever.  Snyder should have cleaned house at some point, but I think he felt like he'd rather just retired than rebuild the staff.

I'm not a star counter, but Rivals considered the classes that made up those teams the best KSU classes ever.  More telling to me, is that how many guys on those teams are in the NFL, or will be eventually.

That's just asinine. We had no business beating ku, and we trailed MU into the 4th.

Very True.  I always felt that we won that game on Snyder's ability to out coach the Fat Man.

We won that game because ku's offense made Herm Edwards blush.

We won in '05 against ku because the fat man forgot he could run on us (KSU net ypc was .8, ku's was 3.3).  Instead he was dropping back Barman/Luke and they fumbled a couple of times(one for a safety) and one to kill any chance of them coming back.

The only explanation for the extreme drop off between '03 and '04-'05 was talent.  We had been running the same defensive system since 2002, the same offensive system since '97.  Everything was the same except the players playing.  Hell, even the competition was worse and we still couldn't get it done.  Part of that is coaching/player development, but a large part is recruiting.

So was the crappy team we fielded in '04 a product of recruiting after our 6-6 2001 campaign?

I know where you're going with that.  It's too bad that the players that made that '02 class rank so high turned out to absolutely suck and/or not show up to campus.  Go look at the '03 and '04 classes and try not to laugh/vomit.

So is someone implying that the program Ron Prince inherited from Bill Snyder is comparable to the program Mangino inherited from Terry Allen?

What is wrong with that?  What is even partially wrong with that statement?  The only other possible explanation is that God hates us....which I think may be true as well.
